On Christmas Day, four-star cornerback Kevyn Humes from Baltimore said via his X page he would move from the 2025 cycle to the 2024 class, and a media report noted that he will take an official visit to Syracuse football in the near future.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Humes attends the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, which is one of the best high school programs in the state of Maryland and beyond.
Per an article from Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman, Humes plans to take an official visit to the Orange during the weekend of January 12, 2024. He has also scheduled an official visit to Penn State, with other campus trips potentially transpiring as well.
Friedman notes that Humes expects to sign with his future college team during the regular signing period for 2024 prospects, which begins on February 7 of next year.
Syracuse football will soon welcome 4-star CB Kevyn Humes on an official visit.
Per his bio on Rivals.com, Humes holds around 30 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs. Two of his offers are from the Orange and Georgia. Humes said on social media that he was “re-offered” by the ‘Cuse on December 4.
Fran Brown is the head coach of Syracuse football, and prior to that, he served as the defensive backs coach at Georgia.
To that end, Humes said in the Rivals.com piece, “The first guy that really recruited me hard was Fran Brown. He’s been recruiting me since he was at Rutgers and then he immediately recruited me at Georgia and I believe I was the first high schooler to receive a scholarship from him once he got the job at Syracuse. Knowing coach Fran personally and knowing his mentality, I can tell he’s a dog and he’s going to recruit dogs to his program. That being said, dogs go where dogs go. I just feel like he’s the best recruiter and he’d to surround me with great teammates if I were to go there. I’ll be there the weekend of the 12th."
According to Friedman, last month, Humes announced a top five of Penn State, Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon and Alabama.
In the Rivals.com story, other suitors that Humes noted as potential visit destinations included Notre Dame, Georgia and Maryland.
After reclassifying to the 2024 cycle, Humes has arrived at No. 139 nationally, No. 19 at cornerback and No. 6 in Maryland via Rivals.com, per Friedman.
To date, Syracuse football has officially signed at least 18 high school seniors for its 2024 class, including several four-star, nationally ranked players.
The Orange is also getting some analyst buzz on recruiting Web sites for 2024 four-star cornerback Marcellus Barnes Jr., who goes to The McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn., and plans to make a college decision on January 6.
Syracuse football is a finalist for Barnes, who took an official visit to the Hill earlier this month that went quite well.
