Per various media reports and social media posts, Syracuse football coaches are welcoming numerous targets on visits this weekend.
One of those visitors, per his Instagram page, is offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua, a junior at Southeastern Conference school Florida who entered the transfer portal on December 30.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound Mazzccua, who hails from Philadelphia, started at right guard in 11 of 12 games for the Gators during the recently completed 2023 season, per his bio on the Florida athletics department Web site.

Mazzccua spent the 2020, 2021 and 2022 terms at Big 12 Conference member Baylor, although he redshirted in the 2020 stanza.
While at Baylor during the 2022 season, Mazzccua was “graded out as the second-best guard in the Big 12 according to Pro Football Focus and the 42nd best guard in the nation.”

When I wrote this column on Friday, 247Sports in its national transfer rankings placed Mazzccua as four stars, No. 180 overall and No. 11 at interior offensive lineman.
He’s a former recruiting target of the ‘Cuse. Per 247Sports, Mazzccua received a scholarship offer from the Orange in January of 2019.
As a member of the 2020 recruiting cycle, Mazzccua was a three-star prospect who attended the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore.
Recruiting services noted that he held offers from college squads including the ‘Cuse, Baylor, Michigan, Maryland, Temple, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, UMass and Arizona, among others.
The industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking had Mazzccua at No. 676 nationally, No. 44 at IOL and No. 22 in Maryland within the 2020 class.
Over at the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, he was placed at No. 832 nationwide, No. 54 at offensive guard, and No. 24 in Maryland.
Other Orange targets who either just visited the Hill or plan to this weekend include defensive tackle Michael Nwokocha, a freshman at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas; three-star offensive tackle/offensive guard Shun’markus Adams, a freshman at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas; and three-star offensive lineman Jalen Travis, who is a senior at Princeton.
