Syracuse basketball is among various teams showing an interest in big-man transfer Edward Nnamoko.

The X account The Portal Report said in a post on Tuesday that the Orange has reached out to the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Nnamoko, who is a sophomore center at Georgia State and originally from Lagos, Nigeria.

Nnamoko said via his X page on May 2 that he was entering the transfer portal. I believe he has two seasons of collegiate eligibility left.

Georgia State, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, went 14-17 overall during the recently completed 2023-24 term. As a sophomore, per ESPN data, Nnamoko appeared in 28 games, averaging 3.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest while connecting on 49.1 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Syracuse basketball has displayed an interest in Georgia State transfer center Edward Nnamoko.

As a member of the 2022 high school recruiting class, immediately prior to enrolling at Georgia State, Nnamoko suited up at the Riviera Preparatory School in Miami.

According to his bio on the Georgia State athletics department Web site, as a senior in 2021-22, Nnamoko averaged 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks per affair as Riviera Prep advanced to the Class 3A state title game in Florida.

Per recruiting services, while in high school, his offer sheet included squads such as Tulsa, Old Dominion, Temple, Winthrop, Samford, Delaware State and Longwood. Nnamoko was rated a three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle by Rivals.com.

So far this off-season, at least seven players from the 'Cuse 2023-24 roster have hit the portal, including several big men, while sophomore point guard Judah Mintz is headed to this summer's NBA Draft.

Five players are returning. The Orange's 2024 class includes two high school seniors and three transfers thus far, meaning that the team still has three open scholarships for 2024-25.

As it currently stands, the only two centers on the Syracuse basketball roster for next season are junior Naheem McLeod and four-star transfer Eddie Lampkin Jr., a senior from Colorado. It wouldn't surprise me if the 'Cuse staff ends up securing another center for 2024-25, whether via the portal or from the junior college ("JUCO") or high school level.

Cheikh Sadibou Ndiaye, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound center in the 2024 class out of the Prestige Worldwide Sports Academy in Lauderhill, Fla., was expected to visit Syracuse basketball early this week, head coach Brad Traina told me via a text message. Ndiaye's visit to the 'Cuse is also noted under his bio on the 247Sports Web site.
