By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball 2025 priority recruit Kiyan Anthony put forth a strong performance on Sunday night as his powerhouse program notched a victory over a fellow New York state team.
The 6-foot-5 Anthony, a four-star shooting guard and a top-60 national prospect in the junior class, played a key role as Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., defeated the Eagle Academy from the Bronx, N.Y., by a final count of 74-58, according to a post on X from the account League Ready.
Anthony tallied 17 points, three rebounds, four assists and two blocks in the triumph for Long Island Lutheran, which competes in the loaded 14-member Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”), arguably the country’s top high school hoops conference.
Currently, Long Island Lutheran is hovering around No. 5 and No. 6 in various national rankings, and the Crusaders are a significant contender to earn an invite to this spring’s GEICO Nationals and play for a national championship during the 2023-24 season.
Syracuse basketball 2025 target Kiyan Anthony was electric in a win.
On Sunday when Long Island Lutheran defeated Eagle, another Orange recruit, 2025 four-star point guard Nigel James, produced seven points, seven assists and four steals, according to League Ready.
James and Anthony are part of a loaded backcourt for the Crusaders. Anthony was offered by the ‘Cuse in November of 2022 and took an official visit to the Hill last October.
James, meanwhile, received a Syracuse basketball offer last August and went on an official visit to the Orange the following month.
Anthony is reportedly going to cut his list of contenders still in the running to five suitors on March 7, which is his birthday.
He has officially visited both the ‘Cuse and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference foe Florida State, and he’s eyeing official visits to Big Ten Conference schools Indiana and Michigan.
To date, Anthony’s full offer sheet includes schools such as UCF, Michigan, Maryland, Dayton, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Albany, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Seton Hall, UMass, Providence, Memphis, Bryant, George Mason and Manhattan. Kentucky is also showing an interest in him, per media reports.
He recently dropped a bit in updated 2025 national rankings from 247Sports, where Anthony now checks in at No. 60 overall. However, he’s rated as high as No. 30 nationally, per recently refreshed rankings from On3.
Most recruiting services place Anthony as a top-10 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in New York within the junior cycle.
