Syracuse Basketball: Felisha Legette-Jack commits to U18 National Team trials

Syracuse women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack is serving on the selection committee for the U18 National Team trials at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs (Colorado), per a post on X from Syracuse women's basketball.
Earlier in her coaching career, Legette-Jack served as an assistant coach for the 2003 USA U21 World Cup and the 2005 USA U19 World Cup teams, both of which secured gold medals.
In 2019, she concluded her third coaching stint with USA Basketball, where she served as an assistant coach for the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games women’s basketball team. Her contributions helped lead the team to a 4-1 record and a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
According to a USA Basketball announcement, 26 players are expected to participate in the trials, including 15 athletes with previous Team USA experience. The trials aim for the upcoming 2024 FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup in Bucaramanga, Colombia. The trials started on May 15, and 12 players will be selected eventually to represent Team USA for the tournament.

Last season, Legette-Jack led Syracuse with a 24-8 record and 15-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), including a program-high 23 regular-season wins. Despite losing to Florida State in the ACC Tournament, the Orange earned 2024 NCAA Tournament eligibility as a No. 6 seeded team. The journey came to the end for Syracuse in the second round after losing to No. 3 seed Connecticut, 72-64.
Legette-Jack had received accolades as a coach after the season, including ACC Coach of the Year and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Kay Yow Heart of a Coach Award.
The 2024 FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup will be held from June 17 to 23 in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and the team will reunite in Colorado Springs on June 8 for a pre-event training camp. The event will feature eight teams. The U.S. U18 National team will be playing with Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico in Group B.
