Syracuse Basketball: ‘Cuse has its seed and initial match-up in the ACC Tournament
By Neil Adler
The 2023-24 regular season is complete for all Atlantic Coast Conference teams, and Syracuse basketball is locked in as the No. 7 seed in this coming week’s ACC Tournament at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
The Orange (20-11, 11-9 in the ACC) finished its regular season this past Tuesday night, falling at Clemson by 15 points. But other league foes had games this weekend, so the ‘Cuse had to wait until last Saturday evening before knowing what its seed and initial match-up would be in the 2024 ACC Tournament.
The ’Cuse won 20 regular-season games for the first time in a decade, as first-year head coach Adrian Autry has done a wonderful job in his inaugural term leading the program.
However, bracketologists appear to believe that Syracuse basketball will have to win the ACC Tournament (or perhaps reach the event’s championship game) to hear its name called on Selection Sunday following a two-year absence from March Madness.
Regardless, the Orange was picked in the conference’s preseason poll to finish at No. 10 in the ACC’s pecking order, so for the ‘Cuse to earn the ACC Tournament’s No. 7 seed is terrific.
Syracuse basketball is set to battle in the ACC Tournament.
Syracuse basketball could have finished as high as No. 5 in the league race, but both Pittsburgh and Wake Forest won on Saturday night, pushing the Orange to the No. 7 seed.
The ‘Cuse will first play in the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 13, in the event’s second round. The Orange will face either the No. 10 seed N.C. State (17-14, 9-11 in the ACC) or the No. 15 seed Louisville (8-23, 3-17 in the ACC).
In the 2023-24 regular season, Syracuse basketball swept its two-game series against both the Wolfpack and the Cardinals.
