Multiple recent media reports have stated that Syracuse basketball 2025 target Shon Abaev from Florida is eyeing some official visits for later this summer, and I believe that the Orange is a serious contender to score a trip from the consensus top-50 national prospect.

The 'Cuse staff offered a scholarship to the four-star small forward in late April. Based on reports and comments from national analysts, Orange coaches have been recruiting the 6-foot-8 Abaev hard ever since.

Per reports, the Syracuse basketball staff has visited Abaev at his high school. Last weekend, amid an NCAA live period on the AAU circuit, 'Cuse head coach Adrian Autry watched at least one of Abaev's games in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league.

Dushawn London, a national analyst with 247Sports, recently had a piece on Abaev, where he discussed potential upcoming official-visit destinations. That article is a subscriber-exclusive, so I want to respect Dushawn's work.

However, based on the sentiment that the Orange staff appears to be prioritizing Abaev these days in the rising senior class, it wouldn't surprise me one iota if Abaev ultimately takes an official visit to Central New York at some point.

Syracuse basketball could get an official visit from 2025 four-star small forward Shon Abaev.

Abaev, described by analysts and scouts as an elite shot-maker who scores with prowess, was awesome as a junior during the 2023-24 campaign for the Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

So far this spring, he is competing at a high level for the 17U team of the Pembroke Pines, Fla.-based SOH Elite on the UAA circuit.

Besides the 'Cuse, his full offer sheet includes schools such as Michigan, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, Arizona State, Auburn, Creighton, Dayton, Florida, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, LSU, St. John's, Southern California, UCF and USF, among others.

To date, Abaev has officially visited Oregon and Tennessee. Beyond the Ducks, the Volunteers and Syracuse basketball, other suitors that may be recruiting him hard these days include Michigan, UCF and Arizona State, among numerous others.

Since mid-April, the Orange staff has offered new scholarships to at least five 2025 high school prospects, including Abaev, as the team's recruiting focus in this cycle continues to evolve.

Abaev is a fast-rising 2025 player. When I wrote this article, within his class, several recruiting services rated him in the top 40 overall, the top 10 at small forward and within the top six in Florida.
