This spring on the AAU circuit, Syracuse basketball 2025 target Acaden Lewis from Washington, D.C., has proven one of the top performers, earning high marks from a bevy of national analysts and scouts.
The 6-foot-3 Lewis, a four-star combo guard, picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange staff in late April, and he's quickly emerged as a priority recruit for the 'Cuse program in the rising high school senior cycle.
Since the time that his offer from the Orange arrived, Lewis has secured scholarship offers from numerous other college squads, while blue-bloods Kentucky and Kansas are showing an interest in him, among other big-time suitors.
Not too long ago, Lewis made a massive leap in the 2025 national rankings, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he continues to ascend in the ratings for his class.
Syracuse basketball, these days, is recruiting 2025 four-star guard Acaden Lewis hard.
Lewis is a standout with the Sidwell Friends School in D.C. as well as the 17U squad of the Oxon Hill, Md.-based Team Durant in Nike’s EYBL league. Last weekend during an NCAA live period, the EYBL held a session in Indianapolis, and 'Cuse head coach Adrian Autry was in attendance for at least one Team Durant contest amid this spring evaluation period.
According to his X page, other recent offers that have come in for Lewis include Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Michigan and West Virginia. His full offer sheet also features schools such as Maryland, Virginia Tech, Villanova, Florida State, Georgetown, Virginia, Brown, Bryant, George Mason, George Washington, Georgia, Howard, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Providence, St. John's, Vanderbilt, Norfolk State and UMBC.
As the current AAU season winds down, Lewis will take some visits. I've noted on several occasions that he plans to visit Syracuse basketball soon, and other schools he's likely to visit include Michigan, two-time defending national champion UConn and Louisville.
To date, Lewis has officially visited both UVA and Florida State, while he's also gone on unofficial visits to Georgetown and Virginia Tech.
In the 2023-24 season, as a junior, he won all kinds of awards and honors in helping lead Sidwell Friends to a 27-4 overall record, a top-20 national ranking, and both the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference ("MAC") title and the District of Columbia State Athletic Association ("DCSAA") Class AA tournament championship.
Numerous recruiting Web sites currently rank Lewis as a top-100 national prospect, a top-15 guard and a top-three player in D.C. within the 2025 class.
However, in recent days, top scout Colby Giacubeno said in a post on X that when MADE Hoops updated its 2025 national ratings not too long ago, Lewis soared to No. 51 overall. I expect that sort of ranking, if not higher, from other recruiting services in the future.
In a recent interview with recruiting analyst Jake Weingarten, Lewis mentioned that blue-blood programs Kentucky and Kansas are showing an interest in him.
My guy Jacob Polacheck, a reporter with KSR+ on the On3 network, said in a recent X post that regarding Kentucky, Wildcats assistant coach Jason Hart has been communicating with Lewis.
Yes, that Jason Hart, the former Syracuse basketball star. Lewis clearly has a growing list of impressive suitors, although it would be intriguing - and a tad ironic - if the 'Cuse and Hart/Kentucky end up going toe to toe in Lewis' recruitment. Stay tuned.
