PG from Corning, NY, who played in Syracuse's Elite Camp last year, an elite 2028 shooter

Nolyn Proudfoot, a sharpshooting point guard from Corning, N.Y., who competed in Syracuse basketball's Elite Camp last August, is emerging as a national recruit in the 2028 class.

The 6-foot-2 Proudfoot, in recent months, has played at a high level on Nike's EYBL circuit, at last month's DMV Live in Hyattsville, Md., and at the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas, a prestigious annual showcase that ran from late May until early June.

College coaches had the opportunity to watch Proudfoot as he suited up for the Albany, N.Y.-based City Rocks in the EYBL league and also at DMV Live amid recent NCAA-permitted live periods. His strong performances of late have caught the attention of various high-major programs.

With the 2028 contact period opening this past June 15, Proudfoot has heard from schools such as Marquette, Providence, Akron, Fairfield, Stony Brook and Wyoming, among others. To date, his full scholarship offer sheet includes teams like San Diego, Manhattan, Ohio, Albany, Siena and Binghamton.

When Gerry McNamara was still leading Siena, Proudfoot was in touch with McNamara's assistant, Ben Lee. McNamara is now the Orange's head coach, while Lee is an SU assistant. The new Syracuse staff has yet to make contact with Proudfoot, but it's entirely possible that Orange coaches are continuing to evaluate him.

As a sophomore, Proudfoot had a stellar campaign for Corning-Painted Post High School in Corning, which is about 100 miles from Syracuse. In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 29.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while connecting on 53 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3-point land and 90 percent from the free-throw line.

For his efforts, Proudfoot was named to the New York State Sportswriters Association ("NYSSWA") Class AAA All-State third team. Corning-Painted Post went 21-2 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association ("NYSPHSAA") Class AAA playoffs.

In his upcoming junior season, Proudfoot has transferred to the Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, an excellent program that finished 26-9 overall in the 2025-26 campaign. Over the years, Orange coaches have recruited various players at the Western Reserve Academy, including 2024 four-star wing Damarius Owens, who plays at Marquette.

Trey Autry, a 2023 three-star guard who will spend his senior year of college suiting up for Wisconsin, also played at the Western Reserve Academy. He is the son of former SU head coach Adrian Autry, now an assistant at fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Virginia.

In June at DMV Live, Proudfoot averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while making 52.2 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from downtown and 100 percent from the free-throw line (6-of-6).

Western Reserve Academy head coach Matt Garvey says Proudfoot's performances at DMV Live, with college coaches on hand, further solidified the point guard as a high-major prospect in terms of his shooting from beyond the arc.

Garvey believes that Proudfoot is one of the best shooters in the 2028 class. He continues to work on his defense, ball-handling, rebounding and facilitating for others as a play-making combo guard.

"He just loves playing basketball. Loves being in the gym," Garvey said of Proudfoot in a phone interview with Inside the Loud House on Tuesday.

Both Garvey and Proudfoot's EYBL head coach, DJ Jones, say that the floor general is a leader and has a great personality. "He's very vocal, " Garvey says.

On the EYBL circuit this spring and summer, per the league's Web site, Proudfoot averaged 24.1 minutes, 13.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while hitting on 41.5 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Jones, who led the City Rocks 16U team in the latest AAU season, says that while Proudfoot has emerged as one of the top perimeter shooters in the high school junior class, he's also a three-level scorer and a hard-nosed young man who leads by example.

"He just wants to win," Jones said of Proudfoot in a phone interview with Inside the Loud House on Monday.
