Syracuse men's lacrosse, the storied program with 11 national championships, held its senior day on Saturday, grabbed a win, and saw one of its seniors become the team's all-time points leader.
It was a beautiful Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome, and all this transpired in front of 6,498 people in attendance as SU honored 10 seniors and a student manager. One of those seniors was star attack Joey Spallina, the Mount Sinai, N.Y., native who has etched his name into Syracuse history.

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Spallina, in Saturday's 14-7 victory for the 'Cuse over Central New York neighbor Colgate, tallied seven points on two goals and five assists on senior day. In the process, Spallina surpassed the legendary Mike Powell as SU's all-time leader in total points when Spallina reached 308 career points.
Three guys that know a thing or two about that record.

Congrats, Joey.#HHH x #LikeNoOther pic.twitter.com/wPauJuqxcu
Spallina, a third-team All-American as a sophomore and a second-team All-American as a junior, now has 313 career points on the Hill. A huge congrats to Joey, who is just an all-around nice human being.
Joey Spallina is the new all-time career points leader at Syracuse men's lacrosse.
On Saturday, Spallina was named as one of 25 nominees for this season's Tewaaraton Award, which is presented every year to the top women's and men's lacrosse players. Spallina is now a three-time Tewaaraton Award nominee.
Congrats, @SpallinaJoey

Passing Powell is mighty impressive, as he was a four-time All-American for the Orange and won the Tewaaraton Award twice. Spallina came to Syracuse men's lacrosse as the number-one recruit in his class, and he has delivered, helping lead SU to the Final Four in 2025, the first occasion for the 'Cuse getting to championship weekend dating back to 2013.

Despite all the individual accolades, Spallina recently said that he "could care less" about breaking Powell’s record, because all Spallina wants is to bring the national championship back to Syracuse men's lacrosse for the first time since 2009.
By the way, in last week's 2026 Premier Lacrosse League ("PLL") college draft, a program-best five 'Cuse players were selected, including Spallina at No. 3 overall to the Maryland Whipsnakes.
No. 5 Syracuse men's lacrosse (11-3 overall, 2-1 in ACC) wraps up its 2026 regular season on Saturday, April 25, when SU will travel to No. 1 Notre Dame. Then the Orange will head to the ACC Tournament in Charlotte, N.C., followed by the NCAA Tournament.
I'm unbelievably happy for Spallina, who will go down as one of the top Syracuse men's lacrosse players ever. Hopefully, he'll have a national title to add to his trophy case when all is said and done.
