In a rematch of last season's national semifinals, Syracuse men's lacrosse will battle fellow heavyweight program Maryland on Friday evening in Central New York in what should prove an epic showdown.

The Terrapins (1-0), ranked No. 1 in the country in the early part of the 2026 season, will face off against No. 2 'Cuse (2-0) at the JMA Wireless Dome beginning at 6:00 pm EST on Friday, Feb. 13.

The ACC Network is providing television coverage. The broadcast team has a lot of Syracuse connections. Doing the play-by-play will be SU alum Anish Shroff, and joining him in the booth is former Syracuse men's lacrosse All-American midfielder Paul Carcaterra and Johns Hopkins goalkeeping legend Quint Kessenich. Dana Boyle, a former All-ACC midfielder at Virginia, will serve as the sideline reporter on Friday night.

Last May, in the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA Tournament at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., No. 2 seed Maryland knocked off No. 6 seed Syracuse, 14-8. That was the first time that the 'Cuse had reached championship weekend dating back to 2013. The Terps would fall in the title game to eventual national champ and No. 1 seed Cornell, 13-10.

Syracuse men's lacrosse looks to exact revenge on Maryland at home.

Friday is a big day at the Dome. Earlier in the day, starting at 2:30 pm EST, No. 13 Syracuse women's lacrosse (0-1) will host No. 1 North Carolina (1-0). The ACC Network will also air this fabulous encounter.

On the men's side, over the years, the Terrapins have had much success against SU. In an all-time series that commenced in 1927, Maryland is 16-6 versus the Orange, and UMD has captured eight consecutive games. What's more, the 'Cuse is just 2-5 against the Terps at home. Yikes.

To date this season, Syracuse has beaten top-20 Boston University, 13-6, and Saint Joseph's, 20-2, with both victories occurring on the Hill. The Terrapins own a 19-10 triumph over Loyola University Maryland in College Park.

In 'Cuse program history, going back to the 1981 season, Syracuse men's lacrosse is 280-56 at the Dome. However, UMD presents a significant early test for the Orange in the young 2026 campaign. Friday should be a lot of fun.

Oh, and I'm an SU alum, but I grew up about 20 minutes from the Maryland campus, and my mom is a Terp alum. So it's kind of a win-win situation for me in this heavyweight lax affair.

But - go Orange!
