The media outlet has published its true freshman All-America team for the 2025 season, and Deslauriers made the squad. A huge congrats to Antoine!

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound Deslauriers, who hails from Montreal, was a highly productive freshman for the Orange in the recently completed term. Per SU Athletics, he tallied 20 solo tackles, 60 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups.

The 'Cuse, as a unit, struggled on defense in 2025, as Syracuse football went 3-9 overall. In recent days, head coach Fran Brown announced the hiring of Toledo's Vince Kehres as the Orange's new defensive coordinator.

Deslauriers is expected to return in 2026, along with numerous other key players on both sides of the field, such as redshirt junior quarterback Steve Angeli, freshman defensive back/wide receiver Demetres Samuel Jr., sophomore running back Yasin Willis, freshman offensive lineman Byron Washington, sophomore linebacker/tight end Jamie Tremble and redshirt sophomore defensive back Chris Peal, among others.

Another Syracuse football freshman was also terrific this past stanza.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Samuel, from Palm Bay, Fla., was one of the youngest players at the FBS level after reclassifying from the 2026 cycle into the 2025 class. While he didn't make On3's true freshman All-America team, Samuel was one of the nation's top defensive backs, particularly among college newbies.

Samuel, a starting cornerback for Syracuse football in the 2025 campaign, collected 31 solo tackles, 45 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss, one interception and an impressive nine pass breakups.

Numerous players from Atlantic Coast Conference schools are on the On3 true freshman All-America team, including offensive freshman of the year Malachi Toney, a talented wide receiver who helped lead Miami to a 10-2 record and a berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

Toney is good friends with Syracuse football 2026 signee Calvin Russell lll, a five-star wide receiver and top-25 national prospect, who is the highest-ranked commit for the Orange program in more than two decades.
