It has become commonplace for Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff to make the final list cuts of highly ranked prospects, something that wasn't the case a few years ago.

In the latest example, 2027 four-star wide receiver and top-65 national prospect Jaden Upshaw from Georgia has disclosed his top 10, per On3/Rivals national reporter Hayes Fawcett. The list features Syracuse football, Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M, Southern California, Michigan, Florida, Florida State and Tennessee.

Good grief. That's quite a top 10.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Upshaw, last month, was on the Hill to watch the Orange play fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Pittsburgh at the JMA Wireless Dome. The 'Cuse staff offered him on August 14 of this year. Upshaw holds more than two dozen scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs.

Syracuse football faces steep competition to prevail for Jaden Upshaw.

Upshaw is a standout junior at Lee County High School in Leesburg, Ga. According to MaxPreps, in the 2025 season, he has hauled in 38 receptions for 764 yards and eight scores through the air. He's averaging 20.1 yards per catch, which is impressive.

Lee County (8-3) will face off with Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Ga., on Friday night in the Georgia High School Association ("GHSA") Class 5A state playoffs. Langston Hughes is 11-0.

As a sophomore in the 2024 campaign, Upshaw was also excellent, catching 63 passes for 842 yards and 11 touchdowns. In late October, he was named to the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl, a prestigious showcase that will take place on Saturday, Jan. 10, in San Antonio.

Within the 2027 class, Rivals places Upshaw at No. 63 overall, No. 11 at wide receiver and No. 5 in Georgia. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, at the time of this writing, had him at No. 78 nationally, No. 14 at wide receiver and No. 10 in Georgia.

To date, Syracuse football coaches have landed eight verbal pledges in their 2028 class. This 'Cuse cycle checks in at No. 8 around the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. One prospect, athlete Tristin Hughes from Ohio, is rated four stars.
