Syracuse women's basketball had kept a roster spot open for graduate student guard Dominique Darius, in the hopes that she could play in the upcoming 2026-27 season.
However, head coach Felisha Legette-Jack said earlier this week that, despite petitioning the NCAA for a waiver to come back in 2026-27, the 5-foot-10 Darius will not be back for the Orange in what would have been her seventh campaign in college, according to reports.
This is a bummer, as Darius has dealt with some unfortunate circumstances throughout her collegiate career, which began at UCLA and then moved to Southern California before she headed to the 'Cuse. Darius is the daughter of former Syracuse football All-American and NFL defensive back Donovin Darius.
Dominique Darius was a key contributor for SU in 2025-26, when the Orange went 24-9 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament's second round this past spring. Darius missed March Madness due to a left-hand injury.
In 2025-26, she averaged 25.7 minutes, 12.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while connecting on 39.8 percent from the field, 29.4 percent from beyond the arc and 83.9 percent from the free-throw line.

On cuse.com, the Orange has a 2026-27 roster that currently lists 13 players, meaning two spots are available. Here is Syracuse's roster as it stands:
