Matt Park, the voice of the Syracuse Orange, will be the recipient of this year's Marty Glickman Award for Leadership in Sports Media, which is just wonderful news.
Park, a 1997 graduate of Syracuse University's esteemed S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is the play-by-play announcer for Syracuse football and men's basketball. The Chittenango, N.Y., native also serves as an adjunct professor at Newhouse and directs Sportscaster U., a broadcasting training camp and career development program for professional athletes.
Thank you to @miketirico and @FranBrownCuse for being a part of this special moment. @CuseFootball @Cuse_MBB

Syracuse Orange long-time announcer Matt Park is receiving a terrific award, and deservingly so.
The award, now in its 10th year, is named for Marty Glickman, who was a track and field star at Syracuse University and graduated from SU in 1939 and would become a pioneer in the sportscasting industry.
Recognizing individuals for their leadership in sports media, last year, the Marty Glickman Award went to Syracuse University 1985 graduate Dan Hoard, who was the ninth recipient of the honor.
Since 2000, Hoard has served as the radio voice of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats for both football and men’s basketball. In 2011, he became the radio voice of the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals. On four occasions, he has been named the Ohio sportscaster of the year by the National Sports Media Association.
Before Hoard, prior winners of the Marty Glickman Award for Leadership in Sports Media have included Bob Costas, Marv Albert, Beth Mowins, Sean McDonough, Mike Tirico, Ian Eagle, Sandy Montag and Dick Stockton.
That's quite a list. Over the years and decades, Newhouse has seen many of its alums go on to highly distinguished careers in broadcasting, and no school has more elite sportscasters than Syracuse University.
I graduated from Newhouse with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2000. While I went on to a print and digital journalism career, among other endeavors, I've always had an affinity for sportscasting. It's been a joy to watch so many of my fellow Syracuse University and Newhouse alums go out and crush things as play-by-play announcers.
Once again, a huge congrats to Matt Park on this distinguished honor. It appears that he will receive this award on November 4.
