Five-star Alex Constanza, who officially visited Syracuse basketball last fall, will remain in the 2026 class after considering a move to the 2025 cycle.
On Thursday, top recruiting analyst Jake Weingarten first reported that the 6-foot-8 Constanza, an elite guard/small forward, would stay in the 2026 class. Later on Thursday, I traded text messages with Constanza's dad, all-around great guy Ed Constanza, who confirmed to me that his son will remain in the 2026 cycle.
Weingarten, in his post on X, noted that some college squads that are heavily involved these days in Alex Constanza's recruitment include Illinois, Arkansas, Baylor, BYU, Florida State, Arizona State, Ole Miss and Kansas State.

Constanza will take visits in the fall.
Last October, Constanza took an official visit to the Orange that went quite well, his dad has told me. In December of 2024, Constanza officially visited Illinois, an excellent program out of the Big Ten Conference.
Congrats to Alexander Constanza (@_alexconstanza) on reaching the 1500 Point Club for his WA High school basketball career. Just another example of his body of work which is why he considered a top 10 kid in the nation in the class of 2026 - still more to come. @PaulBiancardi… pic.twitter.com/gPZz7AHmb2

Due to a broken wrist that required surgery, Constanza missed the first seven games of the 2024-25 campaign at the Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. However, he still had a fabulous season, averaging 29.8 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and 1.8 blocks per encounter, according to his dad.
In 2024-25, per MaxPreps, Westminster went 14-13 overall and lost a heart-breaker to the Riviera Preparatory School from Miami in the regional semifinals of the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 2A state tournament. Constanza, by the way, went off in that setback.

Syracuse basketball remains in the mix for 2026 five-star guard/wing Alex Constanza.
Constanza, ranked as five stars, No. 15 overall, No. 5 at small forward and No. 4 in Florida by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, holds a ton of high-major offers. As I first reported, he received a scholarship offer from the Orange in mid-January of 2024.

A consensus top-20 national prospect in the 2026 cycle, Constanza this fall is looking to visit schools such as Arkansas, BYU, Ole Miss, Arizona State and Baylor, according to his dad. When I asked Ed if his son might go on a second official visit to Syracuse basketball, he responded, "absolutely."
Beginning on July 1, 2023, the NCAA began permitting high school prospects to start taking an unlimited number of official visits to college campuses, although they would be limited to one official visit per school, or two if a particular college team had a head-coaching change. In men's basketball, however, high school players can still take a second official visit to the same school, provided that second trip occurs in a different academic year.
The lead recruiter for Alex Constanza at the 'Cuse is assistant coach Allen Griffin, who in early October of last year visited Constanza during an open gym at Westminster.
During our text exchange, Ed Constanza did acknowledge that as it pertains to the Orange's recruitment of his son, it's been a "little quiet" of late, but Syracuse basketball is "definitely in consideration" by Alex Constanza.
"He really liked Syracuse and was very happy on the visit," Ed says of his son.

As the AAU circuits are preparing to get underway, Ed says that Alex Constanza will suit up this spring and summer for the Marietta, Ga.-based Team Scoot in the PUMA-sponsored PRO16 league.
