Syracuse basketball 2025 four-star commit Kiyan Anthony should have numerous robust name, image and likeness ("NIL") opportunities when he arrives on the Hill, experts say.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard, a top-30 national prospect and the No. 1 player coming out of New York state in the high school senior class, is one of four members in the Orange's 2025 cycle, which currently ranks No. 10 around the country, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

As we all know, Anthony is the son of Syracuse basketball legend, long-time NBA star and likely future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, who in his one season in Central New York helped lead the 'Cuse to the program's only national title in 2003.

Fans are excited to see Kiyan Anthony suit up for the Orange beginning in the 2025-26 campaign, although expecting him to replicate as a freshman what Melo did in 2002-03 is both unfair and likely unrealistic.

That being said, the 'Cuse 2025 class is filled with promise, and Anthony has shined as a senior with Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., a squad that is playing extremely well of late and will contend for a berth in early April's Chipotle Nationals, an eight-team event that will take place in Fishers, Ind., and ultimately crown a national champion in high school basketball.

In a recent article, On3's Nick Schultz writes in part that Anthony is "primed for NIL success as a highly touted recruit and the son of an NBA great."

Recently, Anthony appeared in a fabulous television commercial for AT&T along with his dad, former legendary Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim and one of Melo's good friends, Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, who won multiple NBA championships with the Miami Heat.

According to Schultz, that TV advertisement is part of Anthony's NIL deal with AT&T, with Anthony adding, "This wasn’t just a one-ad type of thing. We’re definitely going to be talking to AT&T. We have a relationship, and they’re somebody we can call. That’s what I look for. That’s really the best advice I’ve gotten from my parents and my team."

Schultz's piece says that Anthony has "strong NIL potential," which I totally agree with, given that he's a terrific prospect in his own right, and also is a legacy player at his future collegiate program.

Anthony added in the On3 story, "When looking at NIL deals, look for the long-term and look for the longevity in a deal. Don’t just try to do all these one-off deals where you can make some money. Look for long-term deals where you can actually build a relationship with the … NIL brand."

Coming up, Long Island Lutheran High School will soon compete in the EYBL Scholastic tournament, which runs from March 5 to March 8, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the Chipotle Nationals.

Regarding NIL at the 'Cuse, Orange United is a commercial NIL collective supporting Syracuse Orange student-athletes in all sports. Later this year, Syracuse basketball will play in an NIL-driven tournament known as the Players Era Festival, which will be held in Las Vegas and should provide at least $1 million in NIL payouts to all participating schools.

There is also future revenue-sharing that could come in 2025-26 if a judge approves the settlement of three federal antitrust lawsuits. SU Athletics has said that in 2025-26, it intends to distribute the maximum NIL payment amount of approximately $20.5 million.

Last month, SU Athletics also announced that it plans to raise $50 million over the next three years to "focus on attracting and retaining champion-caliber student-athletes while ensuring they have access to best-in-class resources, facilities and the training needed to perform and excel at the highest levels."
