Three-star defensive back Chase Geter, a nationally ranked prospect in the 2026 class from Virginia who received a Syracuse football offer nearly a year ago, is set to make his college decision.
Per his bio on the 247Sports Web site, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Geter will make his commitment announcement on Sunday, June 22, and his finalists are the Orange, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference schools Duke and Virginia, and Wisconsin out of the Big Ten Conference.
When I wrote this article on Friday afternoon, I didn't see any analyst predictions for Geter on the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com or the On3 Web site. At the time of this writing, On3's recruiting prediction machine had Virginia in the No. 1 spot for Geter, albeit by a small margin.
Geter is a standout rising senior at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Va., which is part of the talent-rich Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The DMV (my hometown) is a key recruiting market for the Orange staff.
As a junior in the 2024 campaign, Geter had an award-winning season for the Bulldogs, according to a post on his X page. Based on his production in 2024, he should be a four-star prospect, in my humble opinion.

Syracuse football is a finalist for 2026 3-star Chase Geter.
Orange head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff have pursued Geter for a while now, offering him a scholarship in early August of 2024. Let's also keep in mind that Brown, an ace recruiter, was the defensive backs coach at Southeastern Conference powerhouse Georgia before heading to the Hill to lead the 'Cuse.
After a great conversation with @FranBrownCuse, I am blessed to receive an offer from Syracuse!! @Omeezi_ @Coach_E_Rob @CoachJ_Schaefer @AMannicciCuse @WillVapreps @RivalsFriedman @MohrRecruiting @RocCarmichael @EdOBrienCFB @mikegete20 @Golston64 @T_Money4699 pic.twitter.com/M3znQNyDQp

In May, Geter conducted an in-home visit with the Syracuse football staff. Last weekend, he took an official visit to the Orange program.

Within the 2026 class, according to 247Sports, Geter is the No. 55 cornerback and the No. 14 prospect from Virginia. Over at ESPN, he's the No. 37 cornerback and also the No. 14 player in Virginia.
To date, the Orange has 21 verbal pledges in a 2026 cycle that is No. 29 overall, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. This class includes two Virginia-based commits, four-star wide receiver Amare Gough and defensive back Tyrell Grant Jr., who verbally pledged to the 'Cuse a few days ago.
Syracuse football coaches are potentially poised to add to their 2026 cycle soon. Besides being a finalist for Geter, three-star tight end/defensive tackle Carter Bashir of Neumann Goretti High School in Philadelphia will announce his commitment on Saturday, and the Orange has analyst buzz for him on Rivals.com.
The 'Cuse also has landed at least three predictions on Rivals.com for athlete Ibn Muhammad of Camden High School in Camden, N.J., who was planning to officially visit Syracuse football this weekend.
