In updated rankings, Syracuse basketball target is 5 stars, top-15 nationally

Rivals.com recently refreshed its top 150 for the 2025 class, and Joson Sanon, a talented wing who holds a Syracuse basketball offer, made a solid jump in that update.
The 6-foot-6 shooting guard/small forward, who picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange coaching staff in late October, arrived as five stars in the new 2025 ratings from Rivals.com.
The recruiting Web site moved Sanon up seven spots to No. 11 across the country in the junior class.
He’s off to a strong start in the recently commenced 2023-24 campaign, and Sanon should prove a big contender to enter the top 10 overall in his class.
Syracuse basketball faces steep competition for 2025 five-star wing Joson Sanon.
Most of the primary recruiting services presently rank Sanon as a top-20 national prospect within the junior cycle.
He’s a standout at the Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vt. Not too long ago, Sanon earned positive reviews from national analysts and scouts for his play at the annual National Prep Showcase, a prestigious event held in New Haven, Conn.
In November of 2022, Sanon told top national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw of On3 that the ‘Cuse was among the schools he wanted to hear from during his recruiting process.
On June 15 of this year, college coaches could start initiating direct communication with 2025 players. Several media reports stated that the Orange coaching staff reached out to Sanon once the contact period for this class opened up.
Then, in late October, Syracuse basketball coaches offered a scholarship to Sanon, an explosive athlete who is praised by recruiting experts for his prowess on both ends of the court.
Besides the ‘Cuse, Sanon’s full offer sheet includes college squads such as Georgia, UNLV, Indiana, Alabama, Arizona, Boston College, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Marquette, UMass, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Providence, Bryant, Kansas, LSU, 2023 national champion UConn, Mike Hopkins-led Washington, Creighton, Maryland and Miami.
Reports have noted that Sanon does have visits already taken, scheduled or in the works. Naturally, I’m hoping that the Orange will receive an official visit from him at some point.
The Vermont Academy, by the way, is a member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (“NEPSAC”), and Sanon is expected to compete against several other Syracuse basketball recruiting targets in the 2023-24 season who also suit up for NEPSAC teams.
