In the fall of 2016, I started out as a writer for Inside The Loud House, covering Syracuse Orange sports for this wonderful FanSided Web site.

Having the opportunity to write about my alma mater’s sports teams came around the time that my marriage was ending. Candidly, being able to contribute to Inside The Loud House was a truly positive thing during a rough patch in my life.

In May of 2020, I became the editor of Inside The Loud House, and in that role, I still focus on covering Syracuse Orange sports, along with recruiting. The biggest difference as the site’s editor is that I also interact more frequently with my fellow fans on a daily basis whether on social media or in chat rooms.

We don’t always agree. Sometimes, I find fellow fans’ comments directed at Syracuse Orange players and coaches to be a bit over the top. But I always respect other ‘Cuse fans, even when we agree to disagree.

A heartfelt thank you to all of those Syracuse Orange sports fanatics out there.

I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel to be able to write about Syracuse University sports. I attended SU from 1996 to 2000, and I’m a proud alumnus of this university. I’ve been a huge Syracuse basketball fan dating back to the 1980s.

What’s been equally as awesome about writing for Inside The Loud House is that I’ve become more invested in other ‘Cuse sports, whether it’s football, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, cross country, volleyball, ice hockey, field hockey, etc. I could go on and on.

Over the years, the Syracuse Orange has had solid success across a variety of sports, although we can all agree that we’d love to see the football program and men’s basketball get back to where they once were.

And with the explosion of the transfer portal, conference realignment, and NIL, this has broadened the scope of what I read about, talk about and write about.

I’ve also been blessed, dating back to 2016, to have had the chance here and there to chat up Syracuse Orange sports on several radio stations and terrific podcasts. I majored in broadcast journalism at SU, ended up as a newspaper reporter for nearly a decade, and now for the past 15 years, I’ve run a branding and communications company in the Washington, D.C., area, with my twin brother, who’s also a Syracuse University graduate.

Even though I never delved into broadcasting per se, getting to talk about ‘Cuse sports on occasion via radio and podcasts is something I will always cherish. For around seven years now, I’ve been unbelievably fortunate to have served as a writer, and now an editor, of Inside The Loud House. What a gift.

The biggest treasure stemming from all of this, though, is interacting with all you fellow Syracuse Orange sports fans out there. The ‘Cuse has a passionate fan base. I love that. We all want our SU teams to succeed. We all get frustrated when they don’t.

But, by and large, most of the fans I interact with truly adore Syracuse Orange sports. So on Thanksgiving, I want to thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart, for the passion, love and enthusiasm you bring to the SU sports community.

Like I said earlier. Even when we agree to disagree, most of the time, that disagreement still displays the pure devotion of the ‘Cuse fan base to Syracuse Orange sports, and how we all want SU Athletics to thrive. It’s a beautiful thing.
