Maximo Adams, a talented 2026 small forward from the west coast who holds a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball, has moved to five stars, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

These days, virtually all of the primary recruiting services rate the 6-foot-6 Adams as a top-25 national prospect in the sophomore recruiting cycle.

The Orange coaching staff offered him a scholarship this past February, and Adams is one of at least seven 2026 players who have picked up a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse.

Adams had a solid freshman season at Narbonne High School in Los Angeles, and he is spending his sophomore term during the upcoming 2023-24 stanza at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif.

Syracuse basketball target Maximo Adams has a large offer sheet.

College coaches can’t initiate direct communication with 2026 prospects until June 15 of next year, yet already, Adams has received scholarship offers from a wide range of high-major programs.

Besides the ‘Cuse, his full offer list includes schools such as Southern California, West Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, BYU, Kansas State, St. John’s, Texas, Xavier, Oregon, TCU and Mississippi State, among numerous others.

In early July, at the Nike EYBL league’s annual Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C., Adams was a top scorer as he starred for the 15U squad of the Los Angeles-based Team Why Not.

In non-EYBL events, Adams has competed for the Los Angeles-based Elev8 Elite, an Adidas-sponsored program.

Cory DeSanti, the head coach of Elev8 Elite, handles Adams’ recruiting process and is the point person for his recruitment with the Orange. DeSanti told me not too long ago that Adams has an interest in visiting the ‘Cuse at some point in the future.

When I penned this column, Adams checked in as five stars, No. 20 overall, No. 7 at small forward and No. 6 in California, according to the 247Sports Composite.

On a national scale, Adams is No. 15 from On3, No. 19 per the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, No. 18 per 247Sports, No. 23 per ESPN, and No. 20 according to Rivals.com.

The main recruiting Web sites also rate Adams as a top-10 small forward and a top-10 prospect in the state of California within the 2026 cycle.

Other players in the sophomore class who have secured offers from Syracuse basketball coaches include four-star guard Imahri Wooten, five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr., four-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., three-star point guard Neiko Mundey, shooting guard/small forward Prince-Alexander Moody, and point guard Anthony Brown.

Next. Seeing Kiyan Anthony, Carmelo in Syracuse basketball jerseys is glorious. dark
