Per a top analyst, 2026 four-star guard Imahri Wooten, who hails from Troy, N.Y., is planning to visit Syracuse basketball this weekend.
Eric Bossi, the national basketball director for 247Sports, published a piece where he looked at visit schedules for this weekend of various highly rated prospects across several classes. He wrote, “Ranked No. 38 overall in the class of 2026, talented sophomore wing Imahri Wooten is making the trip from all the way out in Arizona to visit with the Orange.”
The 6-foot-5 Wooten was a star as a freshman for the Redemption Christian Academy in Troy. According to social media posts, he was named to the Power 5 Conference AAA All-League first team as a freshman for Redemption.
In August, word broke that Imahri Wooten would spend his sophomore season during the upcoming 2023-24 campaign at the powerhouse AZ Compass Prep School in Chandler, Ariz., which is a member of the loaded 10-team National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (“NIBC”).
Four-star sophomore guard Imahri Wooten reportedly is visiting Syracuse basketball.
The Dragons, in 2022-23, finished in a tie for third place within the NIBC regular-season standings, and as the No. 7 seed, they advanced all the way to the championship game of the 2023 GEICO Nationals.
By the way, Syracuse basketball sophomore guard/wing Chance Westry, who transferred to the Orange this off-season, spent his senior year at AZ Compass Prep and helped lead the Dragons to the 2022 GEICO Nationals.
This spring and summer, Imahri Wooten was a standout for the 15U team of the New York City-based NY Renaissance in Nike’s EYBL league. During the EYBL regular season, he averaged 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while hitting on 45.9 percent from the field.
In early July, at the EYBL’s annual Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C., Wooten averaged 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest.
According to recruiting services and his X page, Wooten’s early offer sheet includes teams such as Albany, Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, IUPUI, Mississippi State, Missouri, NJIT, St. Bonaventure and Wichita State.
As far as 2026 national rankings go, 247Sports rates Imahri Wooten as four stars, No. 38 overall, No. 14 at small forward and No. 3 in Arizona.
In an X post announcing his transfer to AZ Compass Prep, the Dragons said of Wooten, “Imahri is a multiple-level scorer that can score at will and has elite shot-making. Imahri is also a great shot creator for himself and his teammates, and his quickness allows him to get out in transition. Imahri crashes the boards very well & has a great feel for the game.”
To date, I’m aware of six scholarship offers that Syracuse basketball coaches have made to 2026 prospects. I’ll continue to track Wooten’s recruiting process moving forward.
