Syracuse basketball 4-star commit Elijah Moore climbs in national rankings
By Neil Adler
This week, Rivals.com updated its 2024 national rankings of the top-150 prospects, and Syracuse basketball commit Elijah Moore moved up.
The 6-foot-4 Moore, a four-star shooting guard, climbed three spots to No. 53 across the country in the senior recruiting cycle. He’s inching closer to the top 50, and that’s where he belongs, in my humble opinion.
In late January, Elijah Moore verbally committed to the Orange over other finalists Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma State.
He and four-star power forward Donnie Freeman from Washington, D.C., make up the ‘Cuse 2024 class at present. The 6-foot-9 Freeman, who will spend his senior year at the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is rated as high as No. 28 nationally, per 247Sports.
Freeman verbally committed to Syracuse basketball in May over Alabama, Iowa, Texas and Georgia Tech. Currently, the Orange’s 2024 cycle is ranked in the top 10 to the top 15 nationwide, according to numerous recruiting services.
Syracuse basketball 2024 four-star commit Elijah Moore has seen his national rankings rise.
This spring and summer, Moore was one of the top performers in the Adidas 3SSB league on the AAU circuit.
During the most recent grassroots basketball season for the 17U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the 3SSB league, Elijah Moore averaged nearly 20 points per game and shot roughly 46 percent from beyond the arc, earning offensive MVP honors from the analysts and scouts at The Circuit.
As a junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, Moore was named to the New York state Catholic High School Athletic Association “AA” All-League first team. In early September, news broke that Moore would spend his senior year in the 2023-24 season at the Our Saviour Lutheran School in the Bronx, which is part of the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite.
Besides his No. 53 national ranking from Rivals.com, Elijah Moore is No. 52 nationally, No. 10 at shooting guard and No. 4 in New York within the 2024 cycle, per 247Sports. He’s No. 94 overall, No. 16 at shooting guard and No. 4 in New York, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
On3 and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking both have Moore in the top 75 nationwide, in the top 20 at shooting guard and No. 4 in New York. ESPN has him just outside its top 100, while MADE Hoops places Moore at No. 126 overall, which I respectfully think is too low in this class.
As he faces top-flight competition in Overtime Elite, Elijah Moore should receive a lot of national exposure. Assuming he shines as a senior, I see no reason why this Syracuse basketball commit won’t push inside the top 50 of the 2024 cycle when all is said and done.
