Syracuse Football: Predictions arrive for 3-star QB who has ‘Cuse in top 3

Andy Bass, a three-star quarterback/athlete in the 2024 class from Oklahoma who has Syracuse football in his final three, is set to make his college decision later this month.

One of his finalists, of late, is getting some buzz on recruiting Web sites. The 6-foot, 200-pound Bass, a star rising senior for Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City, has a top three of the Orange and two Big 12 Conference teams, Oklahoma and Kansas State. He disclosed his trio of finalists via Twitter in late July.

Bass, according to a separate tweet, is planning to unveil his future collegiate home on August 24. When I penned this column, the Sooners had picked up several predictions in Bass’ recruitment between the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com and the On3 Web site.

For what it’s worth, the ‘Cuse previously had a prediction in its direction for Bass on Rivals.com, but that projection got changed to Oklahoma not too long ago.

Syracuse football offered a scholarship to 2024 three-star QB/athlete Andy Bass in late May.

Throughout his recruiting process, Bass has accumulated nearly 20 offers. His full offer sheet, besides the Orange, includes Oklahoma, Kansas State, Kansas, Princeton, Air Force, Army, UConn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Kent State, Navy, New Mexico State, North Texas, Penn, UNLV and Yale.

Bass took an official visit to the Hill in June. He has spoken positively about the Syracuse football program in interviews, but my sense here is that the Sooners are the front-runner, at least for the time being.

In his junior term during the 2022 campaign, Bass led Heritage Hall to a 13-1 overall mark and the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (“OSSAA”) Class 3A state title. Per MaxPreps, in 2022, Bass threw for 2,833 yards with 28 touchdowns against only eight interceptions, while completing 62.7 percent of his pass attempts.

Additionally, on the ground, Bass carried the ball 125 times for 970 rushing yards and scored 17 touchdowns.

Interestingly enough, Oklahoma secured a verbal commitment from another 2024 three-star quarterback not too long ago. On August 1, per 247Sports, Brendan Zurbrugg verbally committed to the Sooners.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Zurbrugg, a rising senior at Alliance High School in Alliance, Ohio, had previously given a verbal commitment to the Orange. But in late June he flipped to Northwestern before then flipping to Oklahoma in early August.

To date, Syracuse football has one pledge from a 2024 quarterback, and he is Jakhari Williams. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Williams, out of the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Ga., verbally committed to the ‘Cuse in late June and is ranked four stars by several recruiting services.
