Four-star athlete Willy Love from New Jersey, a top-500 national prospect in the 2024 class, will ultimately choose Syracuse football, a national recruiting analyst predicts.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Love has the Orange in his top seven, along with Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M and West Virginia.
Love was eyeing a commitment announcement on July 6, but a few days before that, he said on Twitter that he would not make a college decision then, adding that his recruitment was 100 percent open.
Not too long ago, Rivals.com national analyst Adam Friedman published an article where he projected the future college homes of various top prospects in the East region, including Willy Love.
A recruiting expert thinks Syracuse football will secure a commitment from Willy Love.
For a long stretch of time, Big Ten Conference member Rutgers was receiving a good amount of analyst buzz for Love on recruiting Web sites.
Per 247Sports, Willy Love took an official visit to the Scarlet Knights on June 9 of this year. He has unofficially visited the Hill on several occasions, including when the ‘Cuse recently held a seven-on-seven camp.
Media reports lately have stated that Love is forging a solid relationship with Darrell Perkins, the Orange’s new safeties/rovers coach.
"In his article, Friedman projected that Love would end up at Syracuse football. The Rivals.com national analyst wrote, “Love was close to announcing a commitment a few weeks ago but he called that decision off. It seemed like he was favoring Rutgers at the time, but now that he’s delayed his decision things are opening back up. Syracuse is showing Love the most attention right now, but it’s going to be interesting to see who grabs the momentum for the final stretch of his recruitment.”"

A rising senior at Eastside High School in Camden, N.J., Willy Love plays multiple positions, such as defensive back, linebacker and wide receiver. He is cousins with defensive back Duce Chestnut, who competed for two seasons with the ‘Cuse and now plays for Southeastern Conference squad LSU.
Throughout his recruiting process, Willy Love has acquired around 20 scholarship offers. Syracuse football coaches offered him in April of 2022. His full offer sheet includes two-time defending national champion Georgia, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Boston College, Cincinnati, UConn, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, West Virginia, Texas A&M and Temple, among others.
The primary recruiting services rate him as either four stars or three stars. When I wrote this piece, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed Willy Love as four stars, No. 434 overall, No. 36 at athlete and No. 10 in New Jersey.
Rivals.com, meanwhile, ranks him as four stars, No. 27 at athlete and the No. 5 prospect in the state of New Jersey.
At the time of this writing on Sunday evening, Syracuse football had 16 verbal commitments in its 2024 cycle. This class had pushed into the top 35 across the country, but these days is just inside the top 50 overall, per both the 247Sports Composite and Rivals.com.
Needless to say, we’ll continue to monitor the recruitment of Willy Love moving forward. He would prove a big-time get for the Orange if he elects to don a Syracuse football uniform down the line.
