Andy Bass, a talented three-star quarterback/athlete in the 2024 class from Oklahoma who holds a Syracuse football scholarship offer and officially visited the Hill last month, is preparing to trim his list of contenders still in the running for him.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Bass, a standout for Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City, is an ultra-athletic prospect who has won state championships in football as well as track and field. Earlier this week, he said via Twitter that he plans to disclose his top three on Saturday, July 29.

Throughout his recruitment, Bass has amassed nearly 20 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs. He received a ‘Cuse offer on May 31 of this year.

Besides the Orange, his offer sheet includes Oklahoma, Kansas State, Kansas, Princeton, Air Force, Army, UConn, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Kent State, Navy, New Mexico State, North Texas, Penn, UNLV and Yale.

Three-star rising senior Andy Bass, who has a Syracuse football offer, will soon release his top three.

When I penned this column on Wednesday evening, Oklahoma had one prediction in its direction for Bass on the On3 Web site. This is logical, since the Sooners are a powerhouse program that has made multiple College Football Playoffs in recent years, and Oklahoma is also an in-state team for Bass.

On the 247Sports Web site under his bio, Oklahoma and the ‘Cuse are listed as “warm” under interest level. Syracuse football has a prediction in its favor for Bass on Rivals.com.

In his junior season during the 2022 campaign, Bass helped lead Heritage Hall to a 13-1 overall record and the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (“OSSAA”) Class 3A state title.

For the entirety of the 2022 season, according to MaxPreps, he threw for 2,833 yards with 28 touchdowns against just eight interceptions, while completing 62.7 percent of his attempts. Bass also carried the ball 125 times for 970 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.

At present, Syracuse football has 16 verbal commitments in its 2024 cycle. Currently, the Orange’s 2024 class is nationally ranked just inside the top 50 overall, according to both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and Rivals.com.

One of those verbal commitments in the ‘Cuse rising-senior cycle is from dual-threat quarterback Jakhari Williams, who pledged to the program in late June. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Williams attends the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Ga.

Williams is rated four stars by several recruiting services. When On3 updated its 2024 national rankings not too long ago, Williams arrived as four stars, in the top 300 overall and in the top 20 at his position.

Bass, meanwhile, is rated as three stars by the 247Sports Composite, 247Sports and Rivals.com. I believe he’s vastly under-ranked in the 2024 class.
