Mikey Lewis, a four-star point guard in the 2024 class, is thinking about some official visits, and I believe Syracuse basketball is in line to get one of them.
The 6-foot-3 Lewis, who has seen his stock soar this spring and summer as he has shined bright on the AAU circuit, said in a recent interview with On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw that he is likely to set some visits “soon.”
Lewis told Shaw that the schools recruiting him the hardest these days include the Orange, Illinois, San Diego State, LSU, and St. Mary’s. Those are logical candidates to land official visits from Lewis.
A couple of his more recent offers are from Mike Hopkins-led Washington, 2022 national champion Kansas, Ole Miss and Wichita State. Lewis’ offer sheet also includes LSU, California, TCU, Providence, Arizona State, Colorado State, Illinois, Washington State, 2023 NCAA Tournament runner-up San Diego State, St. Mary’s and Wyoming, among others.
Syracuse basketball is a strong candidate to pick up an official visit from 2024 four-star point guard Mikey Lewis.
Lewis is a talented point guard who demonstrated his scoring prowess in recent months as he played for the 17U group of the Oakland, Calif.-based Oakland Soldiers in Nike’s EYBL league.
During both the EYBL regular season and at the annual Peach Jam tournament held earlier this month, Lewis proved among the leading scorers across the entire 17U division, earning him a lot of high praise from national analysts and scouts.
That, too, has led to ranking bumps for Lewis, who is now inside the top 50 overall, per Rivals.com, as well as in the top 75 nationally, according to multiple other recruiting services. The Orange offered Lewis a scholarship in late April of this year.
For his senior year of high school in the 2023-24 campaign, Lewis has transferred from Accelerated Prep in Lakewood, Colo., to the powerhouse Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, Calif., which was a top-10 national squad in the 2022-23 season and competed in this spring’s prestigious GEICO Nationals.
Lewis said in the On3 article that he wants to take all of his campus visits before his senior-year season at Prolific Prep starts, adding to Shaw, “I’d like to sign on National Signing Day, in the early period, is when I plan on it right now.”
At present, Syracuse basketball has two verbal commitments in its 2024 class, from four-star power forward Donnie Freeman of Washington, D.C., and four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore of New York City.
The other top target for the Orange in this cycle is 2024 five-star guard Jalil Bethea from the Philadelphia area, who recently put the ‘Cuse in his top five and plans on officially visiting the Hill for a second time this coming September.
