Syracuse Football: 4-star, 3-star recruits set decision dates, analyst buzz
By Neil Adler
Syracuse football will soon know if it has further added to its growing 2024 recruiting class.
Two Orange targets in the rising-senior cycle, who each took an official visit to the Hill earlier this month, plan to reveal their college decisions in the near future. Each ‘Cuse recruit has also received some analyst buzz on various recruiting Web sites.
According to a tweet from his high-school team, 2024 three-star safety Jason Cross II will make his commitment announcement on Friday, June 30, at 6 pm. His top three consist of Syracuse football, Michigan State and West Virginia.
Mylachi Williams, a 2024 four-star defensive end, will announce his college decision on Saturday, July 8, he recently said on Twitter. Penn State has a lot of analyst buzz in Williams’ recruiting process.
Syracuse football 2024 recruits are set to unveil their collegiate destinations.
The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Cross officially visited the Orange toward the beginning of June. He attends Bishop Canevin High School in Pittsburgh. Cross has picked up more than 20 scholarship offers during his recruitment.
According to the 247Sports Web site, as a junior in the 2022 season, Cross was excellent as both a quarterback and at safety. On defense, he generated 59 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, six interceptions and one forced fumble.

When I penned this column, West Virginia had picked up a prediction on Rivals.com for Cross. Per both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, Cross is a top-1,000 national prospect, a top-100 safety and a top-30 player in Pennsylvania within the 2024 cycle.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Williams went on an official visit to Syracuse football in mid-June. He attends Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, Pa. Per 247Sports, Williams had 50 tackles and 11 sacks as a junior in the 2022 campaign.
On the 247Sports Web site, Penn State, the Orange and Pittsburgh are listed as “warm” for Williams, who holds more than 20 offers. At the time of this writing, there were at least seven predictions for Penn State between the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com and the On3 Web site for Williams.
Both the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking rate him as a top-350 national prospect, a top-25 edge rusher and a top-seven player in Pennsylvania within the rising-senior class.
As I noted in another column earlier this week, buoyed by a dozen verbal commitments in June alone, the Syracuse football 2024 cycle has vaulted into the top 35 around the country. To date, this ‘Cuse class includes two four-star pledges, top-15 quarterback Jakhari Williams and top-15 tight end Jamie Tremble, who also plays wide receiver.
