Syracuse Basketball: Fast-rising 4-star PG recruit joins prep powerhouse
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball recruiting target Mikey Lewis, one of the hottest prospects around the country in recent months due to his stellar play on the AAU circuit, will spend his senior year at one of the nation’s top prep schools.
According to a social media post, the 2024 four-star point guard is transferring to Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, Calif., which was a top-10 national team in the 2022-23 season and participated in this spring’s prestigious GEICO Nationals.
As a junior in the 2022-23 stanza, the 6-foot-3 Lewis was fantastic for Accelerated Prep in Lakewood, Colo. During this spring’s grassroots basketball circuit, he has proven one of the top scorers for the 17U group of the Oakland, Calif.-based Oakland Soldiers in Nike’s EYBL league.
The Orange coaching staff offered a scholarship to Lewis in late April. He has said in more than one interview that he wants to visit the ‘Cuse, and also that Syracuse basketball is among the suitors he hears from the most these days.
Syracuse basketball recruit Mikey Lewis is joining a national prep power.
This past season, Prolific Prep was absolutely sensational, sporting a 35-2 overall record and being one of eight units selected to the 2023 GEICO Nationals. In one set of final national rankings from MaxPreps for 2022-23, Prolific Prep checked in at No. 6 overall.
Former Orange recruiting target Yves Missi, a 2023 four-star center who is committed to Baylor, played at Prolific Prep. So, too, did former Syracuse basketball player Frank Anselem, who suited up for Georgia in 2022-23.
Lewis will receive plenty of national exposure as a senior in the 2023-24 stanza competing for Prolific Prep. He just disclosed a new offer from Wichita State via Twitter.
His offer sheet also includes LSU, California, TCU, Providence, Arizona State, Colorado State, Illinois, Washington State, 2023 NCAA Tournament runner-up San Diego State and Wyoming, among others.
Not too long ago, Lewis received high praise from national analysts and scouts for his performances at the 2023 Pangos All-American Camp at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
In updated 2024 national rankings from On3, he made a massive leap, jumping to No. 60 overall, as well as the No. 13 shooting guard and the No. 7 player in California. Another recruiting service, 247Sports, has refreshed its 2024 national ratings, putting Lewis at No. 77 overall.
He reportedly went on an official visit to St. Mary’s about a week ago, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Lewis takes an official visit to the Hill this summer.
