For Syracuse basketball to prevail in the recruitment of 2024 four-star wing Caleb Williams from Washington, D.C., I assume that the Orange will need to get him on the ‘Cuse campus for an official visit at some point.

The 6-foot-7 Williams, a four-star guard/small forward and a top-100 national prospect in the 2024 class according to several recruiting services, recently disclosed his top seven via Twitter, and those finalists consist of the Orange, Villanova, Michigan, Indiana, Georgetown, Virginia and Miami.

According to media reports, Williams has taken official visits to Michigan, Indiana, Villanova, and Georgetown.

While I’m not seeing any analyst predictions for Williams on recruiting Web sites at this juncture, On3’s recruiting prediction machine lists the current four favorites, in order, as being Villanova, Georgetown, Michigan and Indiana. That is logical, since those are the four schools that he’s officially visited.

Syracuse basketball could get a visit from 2024 four-star wing Caleb Williams in the coming months.

I caught up about Williams with Colby Giacubeno, who is the owner of Colby G Scouting, a scout with Prep Hoops, and a recruiting insider with Inside Maryland Sports on the 247Sports network. Colby is an all-around good guy, and he’s extremely plugged in as it relates to high-school recruiting in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Giacubeno notes that some of the schools that Williams has already officially visited, such as Georgetown and Indiana, likely continue to remain big players in Williams’ recruiting process.

“I think Brenden is making a strong late push” for Williams, Giacubeno said, referring to Syracuse basketball assistant coach Brenden Straughn. “Caleb isn’t going to be deciding within the next month or so, so there’s always a chance.”

Giacubeno added that while nothing is set in stone, there’s a possibility that Williams could take an official visit to the Orange after Peach Jam wraps up.

Williams is part of a loaded 17U line-up with the Washington, D.C.-based Team Takeover in Nike’s EYBL league. Team Takeover will be one the favorites to win the annual Peach Jam tournament, which will run from July 3 to July 9 in North Augusta, S.C.

Both Syracuse basketball head coach Adrian Autry and Straughn previously served as assistants with the Team Takeover program. Another player on Team Takeover is 2024 four-star power forward Donnie Freeman, who verbally committed to the Orange last month.

The ‘Cuse coaching staff offered a scholarship to Williams in late April. He is a standout for the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.

Williams’ full offer sheet, besides Syracuse basketball, includes Florida State, Michigan, Indiana, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Providence and Ole Miss, among others.
