In late May, 2024 offensive tackle Terez Davis from the Washington, D.C., area said on Twitter that he was going to take an official visit to Syracuse football from June 16 to 18.

But this past Friday evening, the 6-foot-7, 260-pound Davis revealed via his Twitter page that he was verbally committing to Big Ten Conference member Maryland. Naturally, this is a bummer for the Orange coaching staff, although I’m wishing Terez all the best with the Terrapins.

Not too long ago, per an article from The Juice Online recruiting analyst Charles Kang, Davis had the Orange in his top five, and it was encouraging that the talented offensive lineman was planning to officially visit the Hill.

Davis is a standout rising senior at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md. Syracuse football coaches offered him a scholarship in late March, and he also took an unofficial visit to Central New York around that time.

Syracuse football has missed out on 2024 offensive tackle Terez Davis.

According to recruiting services, Davis’ offer sheet has included the ‘Cuse, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Charlotte, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Toledo and USF.

Per media reports, while competing for DeMatha Catholic, he has suited up as an offensive lineman, a defensive lineman and a tight end.

Besides his planned official visit to Syracuse football starting on June 16, he was also eyeing official visits to Georgia Tech on June 9 and to Virginia Tech on June 23.

In an article by Scott Greene, the publisher of TerrapinSportsReport on the Rivals.com network, he wrote that Davis took an unofficial visit to Maryland on June 2 and made another unofficial visit to the Terrapins the following day.

While the Orange didn’t prevail in Davis’ recruitment, Syracuse football coaches have scored a couple of recent verbal commitments in the 2024 cycle, including from three-star edge Tristen Graham and three-star defensive lineman David McMorris.

Additionally, this is a big weekend for the ‘Cuse coaching staff, as the Orange is hosting numerous 2024 four-star and three-star targets (and commits) on official visits. Those officially visiting Syracuse football this weekend include four-star wide receiver Jason Robinson and quarterback/athlete Andy Bass.
