Syracuse football coaches appear to be prioritizing a pair of three-star wide receivers who attend the same prep school in Connecticut, according to media reports.

The Orange is among the schools recruiting 2025 three-star wide receiver/athlete Jourdin Houston the hardest, per a report from Andrew Barth of The Juice Online. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Houston is a sophomore at the St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn.

In a separate report from Barth, he writes that Syracuse football is presently one of the top schools for 2024 three-star wide receiver Sage Clawges, who is a junior at St. Thomas More. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Clawges tells Barth that he plans to take an official visit to the ‘Cuse at some point in the near future.

These developments are among a variety of encouraging things going on for Syracuse football coaches lately in the Orange’s 2024 and 2025 recruiting cycles.

Syracuse football is making good traction with three-star WRs from the same Connecticut prep school.

When asked by The Juice Online which teams are currently recruiting him the hardest, Houston said the ‘Cuse, Penn State, Michigan State, Rutgers and Pittsburgh.

The Syracuse football target also noted that he plans to take numerous visits this fall, but he’s still working on scheduling those trips. It would not surprise me if the Orange ends up securing an official visit from Houston.

According to recruiting services, Houston’s offer sheet includes the ‘Cuse, Boston College, Michigan State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple and UConn. He has also received interest from teams such as Clemson, South Carolina and West Virginia, among others.

Clawges, meanwhile, says to Barth that the ‘Cuse is “definitely one of my top schools right now. I’m in communication with Coach Nunz (tight ends coach Nunzio Campanile) a lot. He was recruiting me at Rutgers, then he went to Syracuse, and he got me offered there. He’s been talking to me a lot there.”

Clawges says that he is taking an official visit to Iowa on June 23, and if he makes an official visit to the Hill, it would probably occur in July. He adds that Syracuse football is “definitely one of the schools I’m looking at for a top 5.”

Per recruiting Web sites, Clawges’ list of offers features the Orange, Iowa, UConn, Old Dominion, Penn State, Penn, Brown, Coastal Carolina and Morgan State. He has garnered interest from squads such as West Virginia, Rutgers, Duke, Cincinnati, LSU, South Carolina, Boston College, East Carolina, UMass, Pittsburgh, Temple and Wake Forest.

Syracuse football recently made the top seven for 2024 four-star tight end/wide receiver Korey “KJ” Duff Jr., who is working to schedule a possible visit to the ‘Cuse. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Duff is out of St. Anthony’s High School in Melville, N.Y.

Additionally, the Orange is in the top 10 for 2024 four-star wide receiver and top-450 national prospect Jason Robinson. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Robinson, who attends Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, Calif., will take an official visit to Syracuse football on June 9.
