Playing in front of his future head coach this past weekend on the AAU circuit, Syracuse basketball 2024 four-star commit Elijah Moore played at an ultra-high level, according to recruiting experts.
The folks at The Circuit, in an article on theseasonticket.com, have named the 6-foot-4 Moore their offensive MVP for his performances last weekend in grassroots basketball.
Moore, a lethal shooting guard in the junior cycle who verbally committed to the Orange in late January, competes for the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas 3SSB league.
Last weekend, the Wiz Kids went 2-2 overall at the Adidas league’s first session from the Iowa West Fieldhouse in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This event came during an NCAA live period, and Syracuse basketball head coach Adrian Autry watched in person as Elijah Moore balled out.
Syracuse basketball 2024 four-star pledge Elijah Moore is off to a hot start in grassroots basketball this spring.
The Adidas Web site didn’t have statistics available for all of Moore’s recent games, but in one contest for the Wiz Kids, he did collect 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field, including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc.
To date, Elijah Moore is the only commit that the Orange has in its 2024 class, although the ‘Cuse does appear to have solid momentum with other targets in the junior cycle as well.
Various national analysts and scouts, including 247Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi, doled out high praise to Moore for his play at the first Adidas session on the AAU circuit this spring.
Earlier this year, Elijah Moore verbally committed to Syracuse basketball over other finalists Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma State. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Orange in March, when SU Athletics said that Autry would replace Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim as the ‘Cuse head coach.
On Tuesday, Syracuse.com’s Mike Waters and Brent Axe published a piece stating that the recent decision by businessman and philanthropist Adam Weitsman to get out of the name, image and likeness arena will not impact Moore’s commitment to Syracuse basketball.
As a junior during the 2022-23 season, Moore helped lead Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., to the New York “AA” Archdiocesan tournament title. He was named to the 2022-23 New York state Catholic High School Athletic Association (“CHSAA”) “AA” All-League first team.
Looking ahead to the 2023-24 campaign, numerous high-school hoops experts are forecasting that Cardinal Hayes will be a preseason national top-25 team. Elijah Moore is a top-75 overall player in his class, per several recruiting services.
