Boeheim’s Army, a collection of former Syracuse basketball players and other stars, will yet again serve as a host team for The Basketball Tournament (“TBT”), a 64-squad, $1 million winner-take-all event over the summer.

In the 2023 TBT, Syracuse will be the site of a TBT regional for the fourth time. According to a press release from the TBT, this summer’s Syracuse regional will take place at the Upstate Medical University Arena at the Oncenter War Memorial.

Previously, TBT’s Syracuse regional was held at the SRC Arena and Events Center on the campus of Onondaga Community College.

TBT officials said in their announcement that the Upstate Medical University Arena will provide more seating capacity as the event’s fan base continues to grow in Central New York and elsewhere around the country.

Boeheim’s Army, featuring former Syracuse basketball players and others, will host a TBT regional this summer.

The Syracuse regional of the 2023 TBT will host games from July 24 to July 28. Boeheim’s Army captured the 2021 title, and the $1 million that goes along with it. In the 2022 TBT, playing in the Syracuse regional as a No. 1 seed, Boeheim’s Army fell in the round of 32 to No. 4 seed The Nerd Team, 81-74.

In a Twitter post on Monday morning, the TBT said that the Boeheim’s Army roster for this summer is “coming soon.” I don’t know about you all, but I can’t wait for some summer hoops!

According to the TBT media statement, Kevin Belbey and Shaun Belbey will continue to serve as the general managers of Boeheim’s Army.

If Boeheim’s Army hopes to claim another TBT grand prize, it will have to navigate a competitive path. TBT says that another team that will suit up in the Syracuse regional this summer is Blue Collar U, the University of Buffalo alumni squad that emerged victorious in the 2022 TBT.

Per the announcement, tickets for the Syracuse regional will go on sale beginning May 1 to those on TBT’s ticket waitlist, while tickets will go on sale to the general public starting on May 4.

"“We are excited to feature our last two TBT champions at the Syracuse Regional this year,” said TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar in the press release. “Both Syracuse and Buffalo always bring elite teams and I’m sure the other six teams in the region will be just as eager. We’re looking forward to presenting this in partnership with War Memorial and Visit Syracuse.”"

Boeheim’s Army has a 22-7 overall record in the TBT, dating back to its first appearance in 2015, according to the event’s organizers.
