Boogie Fland, a five-star point guard in the 2024 class who holds a Syracuse basketball scholarship offer, has been named an All-American for his stellar play during the 2022-23 season for his high school in New York state.
The 6-foot-3 Fland, offered by the Orange coaching staff this past January, is on MaxPreps’ 2022-23 All-American third team for prospects in the junior cycle.
By the way, as I noted in another column over the weekend, another Syracuse basketball target, four-star guard Jalil Bethea, is also on the MaxPreps 2022-23 All-American third squad for the 2024 class.
Boogie Fland, as a junior this past season for Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, N.Y., averaged 17.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals per contest in helping lead his team to a 22-10 overall record, per Jordan Divens, who is MaxPreps’ national basketball editor.
Archbishop Stepinac played a ton of top-flight opponents on a national scale in 2022-23. The Crusaders, led by Fland, finished as the runner-up in the 2023 Class AA Tournament of Champions event in New York state, while Archbishop Stepinac also won the New York Catholic High School Athletic Association (“CHSAA”) “AA” intersectional title.
Syracuse basketball five-star target Boogie Fland is an All-American.
Fland, who competes on the AAU circuit for the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals in Nike’s EYBL league, holds a ton of high-major offers, including from Alabama, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova, UCLA, UConn, Oregon, Indiana, LSU, Auburn, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, Miami, Pittsburgh, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s, TCU, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Louisville, Florida and Oklahoma, among others.
He said in a recent interview that he’s keeping an eye on how the new Syracuse basketball coaching staff, led by Adrian Autry, does this year.
Boogie Fland has officially visited North Carolina and also taken unofficial visits to Seton Hall and St. John’s. He may look to take additional junior-year visits in the near future, according to reports.
When I penned this column, all of the primary recruiting services rated him as a five-star, top-15 national prospect, a top-two point guard/combo guard, and the No. 2 prospect in New York within the junior cycle.
Not too long ago, On3 updated its national rankings for the 2024 class, and that recruiting service placed Boogie Fland at No. 6 overall, No. 1 at point guard and No. 2 in New York.
At the time of this writing, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking had him at No. 8 overall, No. 1 at point guard and No. 2 in New York within the junior cycle.
