Syracuse Orange softball (11-18-1, 2-10-1 in ACC) took on NC State in Game 2 of their series on Friday looking to get its first ACC series win of the season after beating NC State, 4-2, on Thursday night. Junior Lindsey Hendrix got the ball in the circle after getting several outs on Thursday night to finish the win. She was facing off against Aisha Weixlmann for NC State.

Hendrix was able to get Rachel Murray out for the first out of the game but on the next batter, she served up a solo home run to Hannah Goodwin and the Wolfpack quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first.

Hendrix was able to quickly bounce back to strike out Amanda Hasler and Katlyn Pavlick. When the Orange came to bat in the first, they were only able to muster one hit off Weixlmann off the bat of Tessa Galipeau.

After NC State went down in order in the second, the third inning for them went differently as Hendrix gave up her second home run of the game to Gracie Roberts to double the Wolfpack lead. Except for a couple of mistakes in the first few innings, Hendrix was keeping up with Weixlmann.

Syracuse Orange softball looks to win the series versus NC State.

She had two strikeouts through four and added two more in the fifth and sixth. Weixlmann had four strikeouts and zero runs given up through six. NC State would extend its lead to three when Rachel Murray hit her second home run of the game.

Geana Torres would come in to pinch hit for Laila Alves in the seventh and got awarded a base after getting plunked and got replaced in favor of Taylor Posner on the bases.

After Angie Ramos flied out, the ‘Cuse bats would wake up as they would go station-to-station with two-straight hits from Ryan Starr and Rebecca Clyde. Madelyn Lopez would work a bases-loaded walk that brought in Posner from third.

Galipeau would then get a sac to bring in Starr, cutting the Orange deficit to one at 3-2. The rally would end after Angel Jasso flied out to end the game with a 3-2 final.

Syracuse Orange softball and NC State will have the rubber game of their series on Saturday at 12:00 pm from Skytop Softball Stadium, with live streaming coverage on the ACC Network Extra. Syracuse will get its first ACC series win with a victory on Saturday afternoon.
