Syracuse Basketball: A heartfelt thank you to head coach Jim Boeheim
After many years at the helm as Syracuse basketball head coach, Jim Boeheim has officially announced his retirement from the program. After 47 seasons, Syracuse will begin a new era, but before we can do that, all we can say is thank you, coach Boeheim.
Jim Boeheim came to Syracuse over 60 years ago. He would join Syracuse basketball as a walk-on, not knowing that we would see him eventually take over the reins as head coach.
When he did become head coach, we did not expect the success that he would accomplish in his 47 years, as he would become one of college basketball’s winningest head coaches, a Hall of Famer, and a national champion.
During his time as head coach of the Orange, Jim Boeheim would lead Syracuse to its first national championship in 2003, making the NCAA Tournament 35 times, and 5 Final Four appearances.
A big thank you to legendary Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim.
Jim Boeheim will pass the reins as head coach over to his assistant, Adrian Autry, who once played for Boeheim as a point guard from 1990 to 1994. He became an assistant coach for Syracuse back in 2011 and was promoted to associate head coach in March 2017.
As we come to the end of the Boeheim era, this writer has some things he would like to say.
Coach Boeheim,
Growing up in a small town as a fan of college basketball, there was one team that I looked forward to seeing every season and that was you and the Syracuse Orange. Your leadership and dedication to the program can never be replicated or duplicated, your accomplishments will outlive long after both of us are gone, and your legacy will only be defined by one color…Orange.
Coach, thank you for everything that you have done for the program, for the university, for the city of Syracuse, and a big thank you for making me a huge fan of Syracuse, of college basketball, and believing that Syracuse will always be my team.
Congratulations Coach,
Your Biggest Fan

From all of us at Inside The Loud House and from the Syracuse Orange fan base, thank you Coach Jim Boeheim, and wishing you all the best in your retirement.
