Syracuse basketball will have a new head coach next season, as Jim Boeheim has coached his final game after 47 years leading the Orange.
Jim Boeheim won’t be the head coach of the Syracuse basketball team next season. That’s a statement that hasn’t been made in nearly 50 years. From that perspective alone, it’s mind-boggling.
The Naismith Hall of Fame coach is second-place all-time in Division-I victories, turned Syracuse into a powerhouse in the 1980’s and led the team to five Final Fours and one National Championship.
His legacy is built upon consistency, victories and his signature defense.
It’s going to be strange not having him lead the Orange next year – but Syracuse fans knew that we were reaching ‘when, not if’ territory with Boeheim.
Nothing can take away from his amazing career, but the Cuse had missed the NCAA Tournament in three of the last four seasons. The writing, in some ways, was on the wall.
That doesn’t mean Syracuse fans all across the country aren’t sad to see it end. Which is why we wanted to highlight BreakingT’s latest t-shirt.
