Syracuse basketball remains in the running for four-star small forward Marcus Adams Jr. from the west coast, who disclosed his final top three on Thursday and included the Orange in it.

The 6-foot-8 Adams, one of the hottest prospects across the country regardless of class designation, is down to Syracuse basketball, 2022 national champion Kansas and his hometown college squad, UCLA, he said on Twitter.

Per an article from On3 national analyst Joe Tipton, Marcus Adams Jr. is expected to announce his college pick on Tuesday, March 7.

I’m not surprised by Adams’ new top three. He took an official visit to the ‘Cuse in late January. He took an official visit to Kansas last weekend. And Adams was planning to officially visit UCLA from March 3 to March 5.

Syracuse basketball is still in the mix for four-star small forward Marcus Adams Jr.

Adams is a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, according to several recruiting services. He does reportedly have the option available to be a member of either the 2023 or the 2024 cycle.

During the most recent 2022-23 season, Marcus Adams Jr. has been a standout for Narbonne High School in the Harbor City area of Los Angeles, where he has averaged nearly 30 points per contest.

On the AAU circuit, he has been suiting up for the Los Angeles-based Elev8 Elite, an Adidas-sponsored program.

The Orange coaching staff offered a scholarship to Adams in late December. After officially visiting the Hill in late January, a day or two after that, he released a top five of Syracuse basketball, Oregon, Texas, UCLA and Mississippi State.

However, shortly following his top-five release, Adams said that his recruitment remained open. And then he landed newer offers from teams such as Mike Hopkins-led Washington, Tennessee, Kansas State, Xavier, Arkansas, Kansas, Indiana, Southern California and UCLA.

Adams was eyeing a potential unofficial visit to the ‘Cuse this coming weekend but opted for an official visit to UCLA instead.

His younger brother, 2026 small forward Maximo Adams, was offered by Syracuse basketball last month. Maximo is a freshman at Narbonne and is a member of Elev8 Elite.

It’s great that the Orange has made the top three for Marcus Adams Jr., although if I were a betting man, I think that he’s probably headed to one of his other finalists.

The defending champs (Kansas) and a hometown team that’s highly ranked (UCLA) will be tough to beat for Syracuse basketball.
