A Syracuse basketball commit and two Orange recruiting targets have been named to the All-League first team within their New York state hoops conference.
According to social media posts, the New York state Catholic High School Athletic Association (“CHSAA”) recently released its three “AA” All-League teams for the 2022-23 season.
On the first squad are Syracuse basketball 2024 commit Elijah Moore, a four-star shooting guard, and two ‘Cuse recruits, 2024 five-star point guard Boogie Fland and 2025 four-star wing Brandon Stores Jr.
Also on the first team is 2024 five-star guard Ian Jackson, who held a scholarship offer from the Orange but verbally committed to North Carolina not too long ago.
A Syracuse basketball commit and two targets have picked up strong honors.
In late January, the 6-foot-4 Moore verbally committed to the ‘Cuse over other finalists Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma State.
Moore, a top-80 national prospect according to several recruiting services, is a standout junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., and plays on the AAU circuit with the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas league.
The 6-foot-5 Jackson, by the way, is a teammate of Moore’s for both Cardinal Hayes and the Wiz Kids.
During the 2022-23 stanza, I’ve detailed in several recent columns some of the really impressive performances that Moore has produced for Cardinal Hayes.
Lately, multiple national recruiting analysts have shared with me that they envision Moore vaulting into the top 50 of the 2024 cycle at some point in the future.
Syracuse basketball coaches offered the 6-foot-3 Fland in January. Not too long ago, Rivals.com national analyst Rob Cassidy said that the Orange is recruiting Fland hard, although his scholarship offer sheet is massive.
Fland goes to Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, N.Y. In grassroots basketball, he competes for the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals in Nike’s EYBL league.
Some recruiting Web sites rank him as the No. 1 point guard and a top-10 overall player in the junior class.
Per Twitter, the Orange offered the 6-foot-4 Stores in February of 2022. He has put up numerous big-time games of late for the St. Raymond High School for Boys in the Bronx, N.Y.
I recently detailed in a piece that Stores, a shooting guard/small forward, went from unranked to No. 65 nationally when Rivals.com refreshed its ratings for the sophomore recruiting cycle.
