Syracuse basketball hits the road for its second straight Atlantic Coast Conference clash away from the Hill, as the Orange will head down to the Sunshine State for a duel this Wednesday evening against Florida State.

The ‘Cuse, recently had lost three in a row and four of five league games, but the Orange got back into the win column with a solid showing this past Saturday at Boston College. Buoyed by strong performances from two of its seniors and two of its freshmen, Syracuse basketball swept its 2022-23 regular-season series versus the Eagles after prevailing by nine points over the weekend.

At this juncture in 2022-23, the ‘Cuse (14-10, 7-6 in the ACC) still must rattle off a ton of victories in what’s left of the regular season to have any shot of being in the conversation for an invite to this spring’s March Madness, unless, of course, the Orange is able to capture the upcoming ACC Tournament.

For the Seminoles (8-16, 6-7), the current stanza has proven a struggle. FSU got off to an awful start and these days, sits a game behind the ‘Cuse in the ACC standings. Most recently, Florida State did defeat Louisville on the road by three points last Saturday.

The Seminoles’ resume in 2022-23 is fairly sub-par, with the team’s best win probably a road triumph over Pittsburgh in late January. The Panthers are one of the better squads in the conference so far in 2022-23.

Syracuse basketball at Florida State odds

At the time of this writing, actionnetwork.com had the Orange as a 2.5-point favorite in its road battle against FSU, with the over/under set at 150.5 points.

Syracuse basketball at Florida State prediction

In their relatively short all-time series together, the ‘Cuse holds a 9-6 edge over the Seminoles. Most recently, in March of last year in the ACC Tournament’s second round, Syracuse basketball absolutely destroyed FSU, 96-57, in a stellar showing by the Orange at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

I took a look at various statistical categories on the ESPN Web site as we prepare for the ‘Cuse to go toe to toe at Florida State. By and large, Syracuse basketball owns advantages in virtually every major category over the Seminoles.

At the time of this writing, FSU had a really poor NCAA NET ranking of No. 208, whereas the Orange checked in at No. 98, which isn’t all that good, either. A win at Florida State doesn’t do really much at all for the ‘Cuse resume, although Syracuse basketball is 4-4 in true road contests during 2022-23.

The Seminoles are usually a tough out on their own turf, but FSU just isn’t a great squad this season. I’ll go with the Orange to squeak out a road victory versus Florida State.

Injuries, how to watch, live stream, next game
On the injury front, freshman big man Peter Carey is out for the rest of the 2022-23 term, Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim has said. The 6-foot-11 Carey, a power forward/center, recently had a surgical procedure done on his right knee and is expected to take a medical redshirt this year, Boeheim has said.

We’ll certainly continue to monitor the injury front for the ‘Cuse in the present stanza.

The Orange and the Seminoles will tip off beginning at 7 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Fla. ESPNU will televise this conference collision.

For Syracuse basketball and Florida State fans who want to stream this game, you can check it out on fuboTV.

After the ‘Cuse plays at FSU, Syracuse basketball will return to Central New York. On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the Orange will host N.C. State at the JMA Wireless Dome. The tip-off is slated for 7 pm, with television coverage on the ACC Network. This encounter is deemed Otto’s Kids Club Day by SU Athletics.
