Syracuse Basketball: Adam Weitsman would like to offer NIL to 4-star

Businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist and top SU booster Adam Weitsman says he would like to offer a name, image and likeness deal, depending on NCAA rules, to 2024 four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore from New York City, who has verbally committed to Syracuse basketball.

Weitsman declined to provide specifics of any potential NIL discussions with the 6-foot-4 Moore.

We recently reported that Adam Weitsman has forged NIL agreements with numerous SU student-athletes in several Syracuse Orange sports.

In other recent columns, we’ve noted that Adam Weitsman would like to offer NIL deals to other high-school players, depending on NCAA rules, including 2024 five-star point guard Boogie Fland, 2024 four-star guard Jalil Bethea and four-star small forward Marcus Adams Jr.

Adam Weitsman would like to offer NIL to new four-star Elijah Moore, who has verbally committed to Syracuse basketball.

Not too long ago, Weitsman said to me that Moore represented his top NIL target in the 2024 cycle.

“He’s a franchise player. A national championship-type player,” Adam Weitsman recently said of Moore.

In a telephone interview on Saturday, Weitsman said that Moore “is such a respectful kid. Works really hard. A great listener. He gets great grades. He comes from a wonderful family. Elijah is soft-spoken and a class act. A total gentleman.”

Moore, rated as a top-80 national prospect and a top-20 shooting guard in the 2024 class per multiple recruiting services, picked Syracuse basketball over other finalists Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma State. He received around 20 high-major offers throughout his recruiting process.

Moore took an unofficial visit to the Hill last August to compete in the Orange’s annual Elite Camp and then went on an official visit to the ‘Cuse this past October. His only other official visit was to Oklahoma State.

Leading up to his commitment announcement on Saturday, numerous national analysts and recruiting insiders on the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com and the On3 Web site projected that Moore would choose the ‘Cuse.

Offered a scholarship by the Orange coaching staff in April of 2022, Moore is a junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., and he runs on the AAU circuit with the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas league.

As it relates to NIL, Adam Weitsman does not discuss Syracuse basketball or any other collegiate team with high-school players and their families, because his NIL deals can’t be used as a form of inducement for a recruit to commit to a particular college or university, including SU.

Adam Weitsman has told me that his NIL opportunities current ‘Cuse student-athletes will center on non-profit, civic and philanthropic efforts in the 315 and 607 area codes, rather than the marketing of his various businesses.

Regarding his potential NIL discussions with all student-athletes, these players can live anywhere they want and attend any school that they choose.

Weitsman also says that no matter what school players end up attending, he is interested in NIL discussions with them, because they are the kinds of people he would like to represent his charitable endeavors.
