Several of the primary recruiting services recently put out new 2025 national rankings, and the son of Syracuse Orange basketball legend Carmelo Anthony wasn’t included. But regardless, national analysts and scouts are high on Melo’s son.

In mid-December, the sons of Anthony and NBA superstar LeBron James faced off in an entertaining high-school battle on the west coast.

In that encounter, which was televised nationally on ESPN2, the Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, Calif., won at home by a final count of 62-51 over Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village, N.Y.

James has two sons on the Sierra Canyon roster, including 2023 four-star guard Bronny James.

Melo’s son, 2025 four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony, plays for Christ the King, although as a sophomore, he is getting limited minutes during the 2022-23 season to date.

The 6-foot-3 Anthony, a top-65 national prospect in the 2025 cycle according to 247Sports, received a scholarship offer from Syracuse Orange basketball coaches last November.

During the broadcast of this game, noted ESPN analyst Jay Bilas discussed both Bronny James and Kiyan Anthony, per a recent piece from 247Sports’ Raymond Lucas Jr.

"Bilas, who is one of the best in the business, said about Melo’s son, “Kiyan Anthony is younger; he’s just a sophomore, so he’s still gonna grow and obviously gonna get bigger and stronger. But he can really shoot the ball, a very skilled young player.”"

Other Syracuse Orange news

‘Cuse offers four-star junior
Syracuse Orange football coaches have offered a scholarship to a four-star prospect in the 2024 cycle who shines on both sides of the field.

Kevin Heywood, an offensive tackle and defensive end, recently said on Twitter that the ‘Cuse had offered him. The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Heywood is a junior at Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Pa.

Per recruiting services, besides Syracuse Orange football, his offer sheet includes two-time defending national champion Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin and UConn, among others.

When I wrote this piece, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite had rated Heywood as four stars, No. 281 nationally, No. 19 at offensive tackle and No. 7 in Pennsylvania within the 2024 class.
