Syracuse basketball four-star priority recruiting target Marcus Adams Jr. will take an official visit to the Orange from January 28 to January 30, he said on Twitter.
The 6-foot-8 Adams, a fast-rising small forward who can be a member of the 2023 or the 2024 class, said he expects to be in attendance when Syracuse basketball hosts No. 7 Virginia at the JMA Wireless Dome on Monday, Jan. 30.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff offered a scholarship to Adams in late December. He attends Nathaniel Narbonne High School in the Harbor City area of Los Angeles.
As the 2022-23 high-school season carries on, Marcus Adams Jr. has performed at an ultra-high level, putting up a ridiculous 50 points and 21 rebounds in one game.
Syracuse basketball four-star target Marcus Adams Jr. will officially visit the ‘Cuse.
In grassroots basketball, Marcus Adams Jr. has competed for the Los Angeles-based Elev8 Elite, which is an Adidas-sponsored program. In the upcoming AAU circuit, reports say that Adams plans to play for the Compton, Calif.-based Compton Magic in the Adidas league.
According to a piece from SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, ever since the Orange offered Adams, ‘Cuse coaches have been in regular communication with him, led by Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim.
"Adams told McAllister that he is high on the Orange. “They are going to be in my top five or top seven when I announce, but definitely really big interest. They’ve been showing a lot of interest in me, which I like. Definitely big interest.”"
Adams’ offer sheet, besides Syracuse basketball, includes Texas, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico and Washington State.
He is also garnering interest from big-time college squads such as Kentucky, UCLA, Michigan, Texas Tech and USC, per reports.
We reported earlier this week that businessman, philanthropist and top SU booster Adam Weitsman has offered a significant name, image and likeness deal to Adams. Weitsman tells me that his NIL offer to Adams is for the 2023 class.
While Weitsman declined to provide specifics about the length of this proposed NIL deal to Adams, he did say that it is a six-figure offer with incentives that could grow this deal to seven figures.
When I wrote this column, 247Sports had Marcus Adams Jr. rated as four stars, No. 61 overall, No. 16 at small forward and No. 6 in California within the 2024 class. But to reiterate, Adams can end up in the 2023 cycle as well.
