Syracuse football 4-star QB commit, hosed by award, plans to sign with SU

According to various media reports, in-state team South Carolina continues to recruit Syracuse football 2023 four-star commit LaNorris Sellers hard, and the Gamecocks out of the Southeastern Conference are hoping to flip the top-15 quarterback prospect.
The 6-foot-2 Sellers, who gave a verbal commitment to the Orange this past March after previously being committed to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Virginia, put forth a ridiculous senior year and led his high-school team in South Carolina to a state title.
Per a piece from Woody Wommack & Adam Friedman of Rivals.com, Sellers recently conducted a home visit with Syracuse football head coach Dino Babers.
After UVA offensive coordinator Robert Anae and quarterbacks coach Jason Beck moved from the Cavaliers to the ‘Cuse this past off-season, the Orange offered Sellers in January, and he flipped to Syracuse football about two months later.
However, late last week, Anae took the same position with ACC squad N.C. State. ‘Cuse defensive coordinator Tony White headed to Big Ten Conference member Nebraska. And Beck was promoted to the Orange’s offensive coordinator. Needless to say, there is a lot going on.
Syracuse football still appears to be in good shape with 2023 four-star QB LaNorris Sellers.
A few days ago, SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister interviewed Sellers. McAllister asked Sellers if he still planned to sign with the Orange when the early signing period begins on December 21.
“Yes sir,” Sellers responded.
Now, with the early signing period about a week away, things could shift. Recruiting developments are always fluid. But for the time being anyway, Syracuse football does appear that it will sign Sellers, who is a standout senior at South Florence High School in Florence, S.C.
Here’s an important point from McAllister: “Beck has always been Sellers’ primary recruiter and that relationship is a key factor in the recruitment.”
Sellers told the Rivals.com analysts that his home visit with Babers “was pretty good. They’re still keeping in contact and still want me. Nothing will change, from what he’s saying. They moved coach Beck to the OC job.”
"More from Wommack and Friedman: “Sellers has been very close with new N.C. State offensive coordinator Robert Anae throughout the process but Sellers isn’t very familiar with the Wolfpack. Dino Babers and his staff are working tirelessly to keep Sellers on board but South Carolina has been pushing to flip him for the last couple months. Without an offensive coordinator officially in place at the moment, the Gamecocks still have work to do.”"
Not too long ago, Sellers guided South Florence to the South Carolina Class AAAA state championship. The Bruins amassed a 15-0 record in the 2022 season and were one of the best high-school squads in the state of South Carolina.
Per reports, for the entire 2022 stanza, Sellers threw for 2,948 yards, with 45 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also ran for 1,338 yards and scored 17 touchdowns on the ground.
While he has picked up various awards in South Carolina lately for this stellar senior term, this past weekend, Sellers did not win the Mr. Football honor in his state. I found that to be absurd.
Xzavier McLeod, a Gamecocks commit, was the recipient of Mr. Football in South Carolina. The 6-foot-5 McLeod, a senior at Camden High School in Camden, S.C., is a 2023 four-star defensive lineman.
We’ll obviously continue to monitor Sellers’ recruiting process as December 21 inches closer.
