Syracuse basketball, after a recent three-game slide, has now captured two victories in a row, and the Orange will next suit up versus long-time former Big East Conference rival Georgetown this coming Saturday afternoon.

The ‘Cuse (5-4) did a lot of positive things on both ends of the court in crushing Horizon League team Oakland earlier this week, and that result came after Syracuse basketball upset Notre Dame by one point on the road last weekend.

Georgetown (5-5), meanwhile, snapped its two-contest setback streak by knocking off Siena by seven points in Washington, D.C., this past Wednesday evening. Both the Hoyas and the Orange struggled a stanza ago, with Georgetown going an abysmal 6-25 overall, and the ‘Cuse enduring a sub-par 16-17 mark in the 2021-22 campaign.

Neither squad has looked overly impressive to date in the young 2022-23 term, however, when Syracuse basketball and Georgetown compete, it’s always a ton of fun (especially if the Orange prevails).

As we’ve noted before, on the same day that the ‘Cuse and the Hoyas go toe to toe from the JMA Wireless Dome, Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim and legendary Orange player Dwayne “Pearl” Washington will get formally inducted into the SU Athletics Ring of Honor, which is beautiful and of course so well-deserved.

Syracuse basketball versus Georgetown odds

At the time of this writing, actionnetwork.com had the Orange as a nine-point betting favorite over the Hoyas, with the over/under set at 142.5 points.

Syracuse basketball versus Georgetown prediction

In their storied history of playing one another, Syracuse basketball leads the all-time series over the Hoyas, 52-45. Georgetown, though, did squeak out a 79-75 victory against the ‘Cuse at home a stanza ago.

In their eight most recent battles, each group has won four times, and no outcome has been decided by more than 10 points. Two contests have gone to overtime. So I expect a closely fought game on Saturday afternoon.

When I last checked, the Orange was No. 159 in the NCAA NET rankings, and the Hoyas were No. 229. Both of those ratings are awful, although each team has plenty of games left in the 2022-23 season to move up in the NET.

It’s worth noting that Georgetown senior center Qudus Wahab and junior forward Akok Akok both were former Syracuse basketball recruiting targets a few years back.

A lot of statistic categories on the ESPN Web site are relatively even among the Orange and the Hoyas. I think the ‘Cuse found something when it won at Notre Dame, and I’m hopeful that Syracuse basketball will continue to trend in the right direction.

I like the Orange to defeat Georgetown this Saturday at home before a (hopefully) loud Dome crowd.

Injuries, how to watch, live stream, next game
On the injury front, I’m not aware of any significant injuries to note as the Orange looks to win its third game in a row. Certainly, we’ll stay on top of this topic throughout the current term.

Syracuse basketball will welcome Georgetown to the Hill beginning at 1 pm on Saturday, Dec. 10, with television coverage on ABC.

For Syracuse basketball and Hoyas fans who want to stream this game, you can check it out on fuboTV.

After its bruiser versus Georgetown, the Orange will have a quick turnaround and host Colonial Athletic Association member Monmouth on Monday, Dec. 12. The tip-off is slated for 7 pm, with the ACC Network expected to televise this non-conference affair.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
