Syracuse football at Boston College betting odds and advice for week 13
By Neil Adler
Syracuse football will look to end the 2022 regular season in the win column, as the Orange travels to long-time rival Boston College this coming Saturday evening in an Atlantic Coast Conference encounter.
The ‘Cuse (6-5, 3-4) has already clinched a bowl invite, however, the Orange is really struggling these days, having dropped five straight contests. The ‘Cuse roster has been decimated by injuries, as well as inconsistent play on both ends of the field in recent weeks.
The Eagles (3-8, 2-5), meanwhile, have proven a sub-par group in the present stanza. Boston College, not too long ago, did squeak out a victory at N.C. State, which was a solid result for the Eagles.
By and large, though, Boston College has not been good in the 2022 term. To date, the Eagles have triumphed over the aforementioned Wolfpack, along with Maine and Louisville.
Conversely, Boston College has fallen to Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Clemson, Wake Forest, UConn, Duke and, most recently, Notre Dame in a 44-0 blowout loss.
After beginning the 2022 season at 6-0, Syracuse football has dropped affairs to Clemson, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Florida State and, this past Saturday night, at Wake Forest by a final count of 45-35.
Best Syracuse football bets week 13
Here’s what I like from a betting perspective as the Orange plays at Boston College on Saturday, Nov. 26. These ACC teams will commence their battle at 7:30 pm from Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass., with television coverage on ACC regional sports networks.
Take the Eagles to cover the spread
At the time of this writing, WynnBET had anointed Syracuse football as a 10.5-point betting favorite versus Boston College. This is a fairly sizable spread in favor of the ‘Cuse on the road, but then again, the Eagles have picked up just three wins to date in the 2022 term.
I do think that Syracuse football is going to notch its seventh victory of the season by taking care of business against Boston College. However, since the Eagles are suiting up on their own turf, and the Orange has proven a bad team of late, I believe that Boston College is going to keep things close in this ACC clash.
Go with the under
WynnBET, when I wrote this article, had set the over/under at 47.0 points. Boston College is pretty anemic on offense, averaging only 17.3 points per game, according to ESPN statistics. Most recently, the Eagles were shut out by the Fighting Irish.
On the flip side, Syracuse football collects 28.0 points per contest. It’s true that, in its most recent outing, the ‘Cuse put up 35 points versus the Demon Deacons. However, in the two games prior to that, losses to Pittsburgh and then Florida State, the Orange didn’t score a single touchdown.
I just get the sense that Syracuse football and Boston College are going to engage in a bruising, low-score affair. I like the under here.
Avoid the moneyline altogether
WynnBET, at the time of this writing, had the moneyline at +315 for Boston College and -415 for Syracuse football. This is a straight-up bet, with no spread involved, so it really comes down to which team you think is going to come out on top.
For the Eagles, a $100 bet would net you $315 (or some denomination of that). For the Orange, a $415 bet would win you $100. As I already noted, I do think that Syracuse football is going to defeat Boston College, so if you’re inclined to do a moneyline bet, I’d recommend taking the ‘Cuse.
In their all-time series together, the Orange is 32-22 versus the Eagles, and that includes a 21-6 conquest of Boston College by Syracuse football at the Dome during the 2021 term.
Even though I believe Syracuse football will prevail over the Eagles, forking over a $415 bet to collect $100 (or some denomination of that) isn’t something for which I’m super stoked. The moneyline in this match-up, to me, doesn’t seem all that appealing.
