Syracuse football vs. Florida State prediction, odds, how to watch in week 11
By Neil Adler
Syracuse football, in the midst of a three-game losing streak after starting out the 2022 season at 6-0, will look to get back into the win column when the Orange hosts Florida State this Saturday night in the final home contest for the ‘Cuse this term.
The Orange (6-3, 3-2) fell at long-time rival Pittsburgh over the weekend, 19-9. The ‘Cuse rushing attack was totally outmanned by the Panthers’ ground game. Syracuse football couldn’t push the ball into the endzone.
And starting quarterback Garrett Shrader, who has put forth a solid 2022 stanza thus far, didn’t compete against Pitt, giving way to backup QB Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, a transfer from Florida. The Orange’s passing attack, too, wasn’t good versus the Panthers, and the ‘Cuse failed to capitalize on two turnovers created by the Syracuse football Mob defense (both interceptions).
While Syracuse football has already clinched a bowl bid and will end 2022 with more victories than a year ago, when it went 5-7 overall, the Orange does need to reverse course if it wants to finish up the present stanza on a positive note.
Up next for the ‘Cuse is an Atlantic Coast Conference clash with the Seminoles (6-3, 4-3). As Syracuse football has lost three straight and dropped out of the top-25 polls, FSU has gotten on a bit of a roll, having prevailed in two consecutive games.
Florida State, now No. 25 in the latest Associated Press poll, first destroyed Georgia Tech at home and then, most recently, the Seminoles absolutely crushed Miami on the road last Saturday.
Syracuse football vs. Florida State odds week 11
When I wrote this column, WynnBET had the Seminoles as a 6.5-point betting favorite. Also at the time of this writing, the over/under was set at 51.0 points.
Syracuse football vs. Florida State prediction week 11
Because this is the last game for the Orange on the Hill in 2022, the ‘Cuse will hold its senior day versus FSU from the JMA Wireless Dome. I’m sure emotions will run high, and Syracuse football will seek to beat the Seminoles after having fallen to then-No. 5 Clemson, now-No. 20 Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.
In this trio of setbacks, the Orange has been annihilated in the rushing department, and that’s not a great sign as the ‘Cuse prepares to face Florida State. The Seminoles, so far in 2022, average 211.8 yards on the ground, which is in the top 20 across the country. Yikes.
Even with its recent struggles, Syracuse football still has three opportunities in the regular season, plus in a bowl game, to potentially get to nine or even 10 victories in the 2022 campaign.
The dilemma is that Florida State is likely to expose the Orange in the running arena. While I’m hopeful that Syracuse football will have a big and loud crowd behind it at the Dome, I unfortunately am going to project a Seminoles win in this ACC battle.
Injuries, how to watch, live stream, next game
On the injury front, Syracuse football, sadly, has lost a ton of key players to season-ending injuries. They include star cornerback Garrett Williams, fullback/tight end Chris Elmore, linebacker Stefon Thompson, wide receiver Isaiah Jones, defensive lineman Terry Lockett and defensive lineman Denis Jaquez Jr.
The Orange’s depth chart released this week has Shrader listed as the starting quarterback, but we’ll have to wait and see whether he or Del Rio-Wilson is under center when the ‘Cuse squares off with the Seminoles.
Syracuse football and Florida State will commence their ACC affair in a night-time contest beginning at 8 pm on Saturday, Nov. 12. It’s senior day for the Orange, so let’s show a lot of love to all of the ‘Cuse senior players. This encounter will air on the ACC Network.
For Syracuse football and Seminoles fans who want to stream this game, you can check it out on fuboTV.
Following its clash with FSU, the Orange will wrap up its 2022 regular season on the road, first at Wake Forest followed by a trip to Boston College.
Per SU Athletics, Syracuse football will go toe to toe with the Demon Deacons starting at 8 pm on Saturday, Nov. 19, from Truist Field in Winston-Salem, N.C. The ACC Network will televise this conference bout.
