Elliot Cadeau, a five-star point guard in the 2024 class who is also a consensus top-15 national prospect in this cycle, just disclosed a top six on Saturday night, and Syracuse basketball made the cut.

The competition is stiff for sure, but the Orange being in the top six for the 6-foot-1 Cadeau is big time. What’s more, according to media reports, it appears that he may be eyeing an official visit to the Hill at some point.

"In an interview with On3 national analyst Joe Tipton, Cadeau said of the ‘Cuse, “They were one of the first schools to recruit me. They show me a lot of love and I probably would like to visit them.”"

Dushawn London, a national analyst with 247Sports, writes in a piece that Cadeau is “looking” to set a date to make an official visit to Syracuse basketball, but nothing has been finalized as of yet.

According to his Twitter page, Cadeau’s six finalists are the ‘Cuse, Texas Tech, Texas, 2022 national champion Kansas, 2022 NCAA Tournament runner-up/fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad North Carolina, and fellow ACC member Louisville.

It would be huge if five-star point guard Elliot Cadeau visits Syracuse basketball.

Since late September, Cadeau has already taken official visits to Louisville, North Carolina and Texas Tech. London notes that besides the Orange, Cadeau is eyeing a potential visit to Texas.

Cadeau is afforded five official visits in his junior year by the NCAA, but he can also take unofficial visits and more visits in his senior year, if he hasn’t committed to a college program by then.

Given the other suitors still in the running for Cadeau, I think it’s crucial for Syracuse basketball coaches to get him to Central New York for an official visit.

Cadeau, rated the No. 1 point guard in the 2024 class by several recruiting services, is a junior at the powerhouse Link Academy in Branson, Mo. In grassroots basketball, he competes for the New York City-based New Heights Lightning in Nike’s EYBL league.

In the spring and over the summer, several reports noted that Syracuse basketball was among the teams recruiting Cadeau the hardest. But more recently, I hadn’t seen a lot of mentions of the ‘Cuse when articles were written about Cadeau.

That’s the thing with this recruiting stuff. You almost never entirely know how everything is going to shake out.

Since detailing his top six, Cadeau has said in multiple interviews that he’s in regular contact with the Orange coaching staff, and he’s developed a strong relationship with Syracuse basketball.

The ‘Cuse has been prioritizing Cadeau in 2024 for a while now. He landed a Syracuse basketball scholarship offer last November.

In his interview with London, Cadeau said that the Orange was one of the first high-major teams to recruit him, “which is big.” Hopefully, in the end, that kind of loyalty will pay off for Syracuse basketball, because getting a commitment from Cadeau would be a game-changer for the ‘Cuse in its 2024 cycle.
