Syracuse football (4-0, 2-0 in the ACC) took on the Wagner Seahawks (0-3, 0-1 in the NEC) at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday.

The Syracuse offense and defense would step up their game, as they get a big, blowout victory over Wagner, 59-0. With this victory, the Orange moves to 5-0 for the first time since 1987. Here are the grades for the Syracuse Orange in this game against Wagner.

Syracuse football gets a lot of high grades for its win over Wagner.

Syracuse Offense: A+

Quarterback Garrett Shrader went a perfect 17 of 17 for 238 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown, as Sean Tucker would rush for 23 carries for 232 yards, and 3 touchdowns as the offense played a great game overall. The Wagner defense couldn’t stop the Syracuse rushing offense, as they would dominate on the ground for 388 yards in total for rushing.

Overall, the Syracuse offense came out strong and took control of the game from the start and did not let the opponent gain any momentum on defense. A solid grade overall for the offense.

Syracuse Defense: A+

The Orange defense only allowed 50 yards of offense this game, as they would only allow the Seahawks to have four first downs all game, and one interception that would go for a touchdown, scored by Duce Chestnut, as the defense earned a solid grade overall.

The Syracuse defense, A.K.A The Mob, would not let the Wagner offense gain any momentum, just getting to the quarterback and not allowing the Wagner offense to get going in any way offensively. Overall, great performance by the defense Saturday.

Overall Grade: A+

Even though penalties did come into effect for the Orange on Saturday, and they were playing an opponent that does not match their style of play, Syracuse gets a big win heading into the break before their ACC schedule. This win helps the Orange go to 5-0 overall for the first time in 35 years, as they get ready for a tough schedule ahead.
